Still Empty!
Produced, installed during May 2010 and paid, but never used.
Happy anniversary!
On December 16th 2010 the Chief of the Sea Rescue Teams of Pattaya promised to rectify this shortfall in the near future.
But nothing ever happened: The observation towers are still empty.
Obviously Pattaya's Sea Rescue Teams don't see any necessity for any activities on the beach.
Chaos Town Pattaya
On December 5th Pattaya again was a chaos town:
Some bars and clubs remained closed, some stood open, but in the dark or without music. Other places served their drinks in plain light and played their live or canned music at full power. On the other hand some venues served soft drinks and water only.
On some days the left hand doesn't know what the right hand has to do.
Nevertheless, City Hall calls this town a well organized city.
Clean up - or what?
During the early morning hours, on December 20th, Pattaya Police arrested 58 individuals on Pattaya's Beach Promenade and brought them to their headquarters on Soi 9 where they got fined for loitering on the beach.
After the (monthly) procedure the arrested could go back to their homes or their 'working places'.
Pattaya Police and the local authorities call this brouhaha a beach clean-up to improve the image of Pattaya...
The same procedure happened during the following nights until December 24th...
How you would call this soap opera?
Travelling Ghosts?
The Tourists Authority of Thailand (TAT) still insists that Pattaya is full of (upper class) tourists, but Taxi-, Mini Bus- and Busdrivers they all have the same question as Pattaya's Bar Ladies and A Go-Go Dancers:
Where are the Farangs?
TAT targets Tourists from Kepler 22b!
To meet the increased target of tourist arrivals the Tourist Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced an aggressive interplanetary-promotion strategy to bring tourists from Kepler 22b, NASA's newly discovered Earth-like planet, to Pattaya.
'TAT's new campaign demonstrates the authority's capability to react to new opportunities', a TAT spokesman said.
Dear reader: All information published on this page are as accurate as possible, but this one is a joke. Tukcom's 2nd Floor raided by Police!
On Wednesday December 21st 2011 Police Major General Tara, Deputy Commissioner of Region 2 Police and his men raided the 2nd floor of Pattaya's famous Tukcom IT Center.
Vendors selling cheap copies of IPhones and Blackberry branded phones were arrested (?) and their goods were confiscated.
The General warned the vendors not to re-stock* the offending phones. Police will continue to check the center on regular occasions, he said.
We keep you informed. You will know in a few days if the General just started a new Soap Opera - or not.
*How arrested vendors can re-stock the phones? Or what means 'arrested' in Pattaya? On December 22nd a few shops already had Apple-branded iPhone5 (!) & iPhone4 back in the glass cabinets as well as YL and Ferrari branded ones. Copies of Dr. Dre and Bose earphones were also available.
At 14:00 an outside phonecall forced about 50% of all computer shops on the 3rd and the 4th floor to close their shutters...
The Soap Opera already started.
Update (December 24th): Since December 23rd the copies are back at most bothes... Another A Go-Go closed
Baby Boom A Go-Go on Soi Buakhaow closed on December 30th 2011 again.
Another new A Go-Go on Walking Street
Between Walking Street's Lobster Pot and the newly opened 7-eleven the Lighthouse A Go-Go announced to open soon.
Announcement
Eazy Room, a closed A Go-Go Bar on Soi 15, re-opened on December 19th. The club was known as Fun Room A Go-Go. The venue was closed since February 16th 2010.
Relax
Club Relaxxx A Go-Go, located on Soi 16, re-opened on December 19th 2011 too. The club was closed since November 5th 2011.
Latest Attraction?
On Walking Street, across from Utopia's A Go-Go Club, an about 15 sqm large 5D-Cinema opened.
Climaxed Toys?
ToyZ A Go-Go opened on December 16th on Soi 15. It is replacing the failed Climax A Go-Go on the same location.
New Website
The Windmill Club on Soi Diamond, off Walking Street, opened a new Website. It closed its former one a few months ago.
Dancehall closed
Since December 11th Dancehall Club, located on Pattaya's Second Road in front of Sabai Land Body Massage, is closed.
The club opened on October 7th 2011 and replaced the Maximum Coyote and A Go-Go Club at the same location.
New Playground
On December 10th the Play Party Club opened on Walking Street.
It replaces the failed Goodfellas on the same location.
New A Go-Go
On December 9th Bada Bing A Go-Go opened on Soi BJ, off Walking Street.
The new venue replaces TQ2.
No more Milk
Leo Bar Beer, located at the entry to M&M mini-market on Soi 8 and well-known for its milky beauty, closed.
It seems to be a sign of the time: Soi 8, once one of Pattaya's busiest street, is losing more and more revellers to the nearby New Plaza area.
Temporarily closed?
Sexy A Go-Go on Soi 7 closed temporarily.
It will re-open in a few days as New Sexy A Go-Go, probably, but not NOW as the banner suggests. Today the bar is still closed.
Some neighbours even believe the club will never open again: Since a few days a 'letter is waiting' in front of the club's door - but nobody cares.
Time will tell... RedZ closed
At the beginning of December LK Metro's REDZ Bar closed. The bar and its neighbouring house will be transfered into a Coyote Club.
Picture above shows that work has already started.
New A Go-Go
On November 30th the owners of the Eye Candy Bar on Soi Phratamnak, in front of Hot Rod's Harley Service Station, transfered the venue with a big party into an Eye Candy A Go-Go Club.
Spanky's
in Pattaya On December 3rd 2011 Bangkok's well-known Spanky's A Go-Go Club opened it's dependence on Pattaya's Soi Diamond.
New in Jomtien
Akvavit, Jomtien's latest Bar and Restaurant opened on December 2nd 2011 at the entry to Soi 3 on Jomtien's Beach Road.
It's the right place for all people ready to pay a few Bahts more for popular European and Thai Food with a special kind of 'Scandinavian Touch'.
Closures at Wonderland Zone
Tree bars located at Soi Buakhaow's Wonderland Zone (Central Pattaya, near Soi New Plaza) already closed.
Bangkok Bank
goes Walking Street On Monday December 26th Bangkok Bank opened a small office and an Exchange Booth just at the entry to Pattaya's famous Walking Street.
Safety concerns
An unoccupied room was destroyed at an apartment complex in Jomtien on December 26th.
Fire Fighters made their way to the room on the 12th floor of View Talay 8 but soon encountered a problem as the dry riser inlet valve appeared not to have a water supply.
This should be of serious concern to other residents at View Talay 8 and other owners of condos in the city.
Chonburi's Senator Surachai Chaitrakulthong is luring potential investors from Taiwan and other countries by promising 'Thailand's plus is the availability of a skilled workforce'. Let's go to Paradise!
The new Paradise A Go-Go was scheduled to open on Friday December 30th but wasn't ready. It is expected that the bar will try to open on Saturday December 31st on Soi LK Metro!
myLady™ explains
The unexplainable eagerness to work of Pattaya's Policemen
It's December and the New Year is near. Ordinary Policemen need money for New Year Gifts. High ranking officials need certificates for New Year's Promotions.
After New Year - without an additional kick from our Prime Minister - our police will fall back in their habitual deep sleep. It's the same procedure as every year.
Pattaya City Hall at Night
City Hall forgot to announce its Countdown 2012!
City Hall claims that Pattaya is a well organized Resort, but on its website City Hall forgot to announce the famous Pattaya Countdown 2012.
Since many years Pattaya City Hall is known for its last minute announcements.
It seems the responsible people do not have the slightest idea how to run a international tourist destination.
According to our information, the Pattaya Countdown 2012 is jointly organized by Pattaya City Hall (managed by Itthiphol Kunplome), the Chonburi Administration Organisation (managed by Itthiphol Kunplome's brother Wittaya Khunplome) and former Sports and Tourism Minister Sontaya Kunplome (the Mayor's elder brother) with a total budget of around 12.5 million Baht. The Tourist Authority of Thailand (TAT) is 'ignoring' the event until today (December 21st) too! Amazing: TAT is a co-organizer of the event. According to the (dis-)organizers, the Grand Pattaya Countdown is a new highlight in Thailand's (obviously non existing) Tourism Calendar. As far as we know, Itthiphol Kunplome's father Somchai Kunplome isn't involved in the planing of the event. He is still hiding himself in Cambodia. Thailand's Police is hunting him for corruption, an implicated murder, and a few other offences. Nevertheless: The Countdown happens daily from 18:00 - 24:00 on Bali Hai. Update: On December 22nd 2011 City Hall installed banners announcing the Countdown 2012 all over Pattaya... Tourist Authority of Thailand unmasked
During October 2011 the Tourist Authority of Thailand (also known as TAT) alleged that about 80 per cent of hotel rooms in Pattaya are already occupied by tourists from Russia and Europe.
On November 4th 2011 Thai TV Channel 7 reported that the Resort is badly missing its tourist from Western countries.
Now President Khun Boontarik Kusolwit of the Thai Hotel Association revealed that room reservations were way down on recent years to a staggeringly low 50% for the Christmas and New Year Festivities...
Lies have short legs - even in Thailand!
Useless Map
Chonburi's Provincial Administration Organization provides almost useless maps!
The maps just show Beach Road, 2nd Road and 3rd Road and a lot of advertisements, but not the many Sois inbetween the streets.
The map is obviously made to collect money from advertisers but not for providing real information for potential users.
Some information are even wrong:
McDonald's fastfood outlet on the map published above is in front of Pattaya's International Hospital - and not after the hospital, as shown on the map.
Chonburi's Senator Surachai Chaitrakulthong is luring potential investors from Taiwan and other countries by promising 'Thailand's plus is the availability of a skilled workforce'. The contrary is true, Thailand's problem is the lack of a skilled workforce. Now open
The City's latest Joke?
We have enough of water, but...
The rapid increase in population from evacuees fleeing to Banglamung from inundated areas stretched the local water-distribution system beyond its limits, Srit Osaneejarukjit from the Provincial Waterworks Authority says. Therefore many homes and businesses suffered low water pressure or complete shortages. PWA's Pattaya branch manager insists that Pattaya has more than enough water.
The problem is to bring the water to the people...
The long-term solution is the installation of wider pipes to bring more water to those on elevations higher than sea level(!). However those pipes will not be laid until next year. The spokesman said there is little that can be done and simply offered an apology to those affected.
As usual myLady™ has another view: The Provincial Waterworks Authority gives the privat water distributors a chance to sell their waters to the homes affected by the shortages. Small gifts will keep the friendship - or something like that... Mike Baird's New Bar Hopping Guide
Hungry?
This shop on Pattaya's Second Road, just about 100 meters from South Pattaya Road, sells Pattaya's largest - and one of it's tastiest - Chicken Kebab for a cheap 60 Baht. A Beef version is available for 70 Baht only.
myLady™ warns: One single Kebab will appease two hungry Thai Ladies...

News from Pattaya's Third Road
The controversial Lun-La Pub closed. It was a constant source of high noise. Moreover, one of its owner, a high ranking police official from Chonburi, believed that, thanks to his status, he has the right to run the venue without licence...
A few meters only from the Lun-La a new Pub is under construction. According to its Thai name it believes to get the Number 1 venue - at least for a few weeks...
Lazy Tourist Police
Beggars are blocking the footway
On August 30th, October 7th and on December 7th Pattaya Tourist Police, Chonburi Immigration Police and Pattaya's regular Police arrested (mainly foreign) beggars on Pattaya's Roads to protect the tourists in Pattaya and to improve the image of the city. The 'shows' were accompained by a big publicity campaign supported by almost all local medias.
But as the picture shows, nothing really improved, not even in front of our 'sleep-walkers'.
The Expanded Sapphire A Go-Go
The expanded Sapphire A Go-Go opened on November 25th 2011 on Soi 15, off Walking Street. The club is so hot it even had to place its sign behind bars.

Pattaya's Traffic Regulations - Explained!
A: If the first row is almost occupied please park your car in a second or third row - until the street is fully closed for Pattaya's unwanted traffic: Pattaya's street are designed as parking lots and are not suitable for traffic.
B: Streets marked as one way streets are describing Sois that are too small for large vehicles. They can be used in both direction, but for one vehicle only at a given time - with no possibility to change the direction.
Warning: This information is a joke to explain the actual situation on Pattaya's streets. A few weeks ago City Hall announced that Pattaya Police will take tough action against second row parking. But as usual, nothing happened. We don't know if City Hall's disclosure was a publicity gag only or if it forget to inform Pattaya Police about its decision. myLady™ has another explanation: Pattaya's Police is simply to lazy for an additional job. From Pattaya to Jomtien to Na Jomtien
Properties in Naklua, Pattaya, Jomtien & Na Jomtien
It's a Buyer's Market!
With hunderts of empty shophouses and thousands of unused apartments & condos Pattaya's property market is a real buyer's market.
Don't believe the 'only 3 units left!' advertisements. There is nobody in Thailand that checks this claims. Property sellers can tell you any story in this country - without fearing any punishment!
In a nearby housing estate we can see that 'only 3 units left!' sign since 2 years, the 3 empty houses too - plus a few unused parcels of land!
Never buy an unfinished or planned object! Naklua, Pattaya and Jomtien are full of unfinished buildings. We know a housing estate were the investors had to wait a few years until the construction company finished the promised clubhouse and swimming pool.
Before you buy a condo rent one in an already finished condominium, preferably in a few years old building. Check if you can live in a room surrounded by 7cm strong walls and doors and windows that do not really close. Check if you can run through corridors with inadequate lightings and use a lift that complains about its old age after being used for a few years only.
The word maintenance is widely unknown in this country - and if somebody use the expression he or her doesn't understand the meaning of the word.
During a power blackout your condo can be like a prison, or do you have the power to use the dark stairs from your 22nd floor room(s) down to the next restaurant? Most buildings do not have an emergency power generator.
Most lifts in this country are so small that an emergency ambulance can't use a stretcher. Take care that you get your heart attack on the ground floor of your condominium - and not in your room!.
You saw the advertisement presenting a world-known snooker legend saying 'The choice was easy - I bought in the best location!'?
We know it better: According to a local TV station he got his condo at a special low price. He's a clever man. We recommend: Be as smart as Jimmy White!
It's hard to understand why Thais can buy a 3-storey 90-sqm shop- or townhouse for less than 1 million baht, but you have to pay 1, 2 or even 3 million baht for a 30 to 40 sqm condo. An insider told us that every buyer has to pay the unsold units too. Check the free (?) furniture carefully. Most of them are well below IKEA's standards. Na Jomtien Backstage
Na Jomtien as dirty as Pattaya!
Only a few meters from a High Class housing estate and located on a small Soi extending Na Jomtien's Beach Road you can visit the 'Garbage Street' pictured below. The street provides direct access to Na Jomtien's Beach.
Na Jomien is part of Sattahip and does not belong to Pattaya.

Coconut Warning!
Before you sit down on Pattaya's Beach Promenade please check if there are some coconuts above your head. Coconuts can be deadly. They kill worldwide 150 people every year, but Pattaya City Hall doesn't do anything to protect its citizens and its tourists!
NightWalker and his friends already witnessed the falling of two coconuts during the last week of November. They missed the shocked tourists by a few centimeters only.
Update: Between December 12th and December 13th City Hall removed almost all of this tasty but unfortunately also dangerous fruits from their trees on Pattaya's Beach Promenade. Thank you! Readers write:

The article on condos was spot on. The market has been dead in Pattaya for a number of years, but the prices remain sky high. Luckily many first time visitors under the influence of Beer Singha fall in love with the place and the atmosphere and end up making a purchase that they regret.

Shakeup
Next year, during the 2nd or 3rd quarter, Microsoft will release its all new Windows 8 Operating System.
For the first time the new OS will not only support Intel based CPUs but also a bunch of other processors built on the increasingly popular ARM architecture.
ARM based CPUs already captured the worlwide tablet and a large part of the smartphone market.
At the end of next year you will see a quite different PC market, with at least one big loser.
Windows delayed!
Windows on ARM (WoA), which was originally set to appear in the fourth quarter of 2012, may be delayed due to technical issues.
Better HDTVs
DuPont has signed a technology licensing agreement with a leading Asian manufacturer of active matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) display products.
The display maker will use DuPont process technology to make large AMOLED television displays at significantly lower cost than alternative technologies.
AMOLED televisions offer better performance, vivid color, faster response, wider viewing angle, higher contrast and energy efficiency than liquid crystal displays (LCDs).
DuPont's new process technology will enable cost-effective manufacturing to make AMOLED TVs consumer-price-point friendly.
Apple's new iPad
Foxconn Electronics will begin to produce the next-generation iPads in January and to ramp up the production volume starting February.
Production of the new iPads is expected to reach 9.5-9.8 million units in the first quarter of 2012.
Therefore the new iPads will be available in about 3-4 months.
Update: Apple is likely to launch a 7.85-inch iPad prior to the fourth quarter of 2012 in addition to the new iPad already mentioned above.
Market Share
Non-Apple tablet PCs already account for 30% of the worldwide tablet PC market.
After hardware and software platforms' compatibility has been optimized, and performance is obviously enhanced, non-Apple tablet PCs are expected to see significant growth in 2012.
Samsung says GoodBye to Netbooks!
Samsung Electronics withdraws from the global netbook market!
Asustek Computer and Acer will remain as the only two global vendors of netbooks. Perhaps Chinese players like Malata will fill the gap.
Intel presents new CPUs for Netbooks!
Intel will launch its new 32nm-based Atom N2800 and N2600 processors in December 2011.
Asustek Computer and Acer will unveil 10-inch display netbooks during this month. They will run on Intel's new chip-sets.
HTC #1!
Taiwan's HTC takes top smartphone spot in U.S.
HTC shipped 5.7 million own-brand smartphones and another 700'000 T-Mobile-branded handsets in the U.S. last quarter and takes the top spot with 6.4 million total devices shipped.
During the same period Samsung shipped 4.9 million smartphones in the U.S. Apple shipped 4.6 million iPhones.
This is an awesome achievement for HTC. It has built a premium brand in a highly competitive market in just a few short years.
Congratulations!
