Thailand's Dictator got angry again
Thailand's Dictator General Prayuth Chan-ocha got angry again and slashed out at protesters who took to the streets of Yangon on the weekend after the Koh Samui Court sentenced two Myanmar migrant workers to death for the alleged murder of two British tourists.
In the meantime Thailand's National police chief Chakthip Chaijinda ordered police nationwide to find the supposed shadowy group that law enforcement insists is 'instigating' protests over the Koh Tao murders ruling.

Thailand's Dictator said he had written the song as a personal New Year present for the public.
His first song titled Returning Happiness to Thailand is played constantly on television and radio stations as part of a public relations campaign by the junta to win over Thais.
General Prayuth Chan-ocha claims to be a member of a musical family: His daughters enjoyed brief fame in Thailand as a pop duo called BADZ.

Milk
Premium Milk
A scam or not?
Since centuries humans are drinking milk. Now they can choose between (ordinary) Milk, Low Fat Milk and Zero Fat Milk. But the latest trends are Premium Milk, A1 Milk, A2 Premium Milk and Coca Cola's fairlife Milk.
2013 Thailand's Ministry of health published a notification for the Displaying of the term Premium on labels of Pasteurized cow milk and Pasteurized full fat cow milk. Read it!
Thailand's description of Premium Milk doesn't include the latest trends in A1 and A2 Milk sold mainly in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
Thank God, Coke's fairlife Milk is so far distributed in the United States only.
Before you buy any of this products read our story about Milk published in our News Flash from January 2015.

The Thai aviation industry faces further embarrassment on December 15th, when the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) announces the results of its audit in Bangkok last month.
A downgrade by EASA would affect Thai flights to all European destinations.
It seems that the Command Centre for Resolving Civil Aviation Issues, chaired by Air Force Commander Tritos Sonchaeng, had failed to tackle the problems effectively.

Thai-Cambodian Border Checkpoints closed?
ThaiVisa.com got a large number of unconfirmed reports suggesting that Immigration Officers along the Thai-Cambodian border are no longer allowing Out/In border runs.
The problem seems to be related to allegations made by Thailand's National Police Chief.
Pol Gen Somyot Poompunmuang sent a memorandum titled Report on Behaviours of Immigration Policemen to Thailand's Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Gen Prawit Wongsuwon, deputy prime minister for security.
The memo outlines six common corrupt behaviours of Thailand's Immigration Police.

But the winner definitely was the New Plaza Party Street, located between Pattaya's Second Road and Soi Buakhaow, opposite the entry to Soi 7 and Soi 8.
If the Bars can provide a similar party on December 31st, then Pattaya's Countdown will happen on New Plaza's Party Street and not on Bali Hai. That would be the place to be to end this year.
Welcome to Pattaya
High Season in Pattaya
same as
Low Season in Pattaya
In 2014 the number of tourists, both local and foreign, visiting Pattaya dropped to 7.5 million from 9 million in 2013 because of the prolonged political turmoil and the following seizure of power by General Prayuth Chan-ocha and his Military Junta.
In 2015 the number droped again; from 7.5 million to about 6.5 millions.
On July 15th, 2015, Bangkok Post quoted the president of the Eastern chapter of the Thai Hotels Association (THA) as saying that Pattaya currently has an oversupply of about 2'000 hotels with 136'000 rooms. He also said that the occupancy rate of local hotels in June 2015 stood at 30%, with some seeing occupancy as low as single digits.
At the group's meeting on November 20th, President Sanphet Suphabuansathien said growth in Pattaya's occupancy rates came in at only 53.9 percent, last among Thailand's tourist resorts.
Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Khunplome admitted that the city's tourist targets will fall short by around one million arrivals this year, but he is optimistic and claims that numbers of tourists visiting Pattaya will grow by around 12 percent in 2016.
According to Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Khunplome around 9 million tourists, international and local, will visit the Eastern Seaboard resort this calendar year, compared with 10.2 million in 2014.
We don't know where Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Khunplome got his numbers, but obviously they do not represent the reality.
Update (December 18th):
Just hours after we published the report above, the manager of a larger hotel here in Pattaya told us that the published numbers tell only half of the story. Fact is that until 2013 most tourist booked their rooms for one to two weeks. Pattaya's new breed of tourists stay only one to two nights in the city, he told us, and added if Pattaya's Police does not immediately change their behavior, the remaining tourists don't will come back to this city anymore.
Urgend Update (December 19th):
Pattaya Countdown 2016 will have activities for only 3 days!
The Countdown will happen from December 29th to 31st at Bali Hai.
Nevertheless, our City Hall still calls it Thailand's greatest Countdown.
Update: Just a few days before the countdown started City hall replaced most of the ads. The new advertisements don't announce Thailand's greatest Countdown anymore...
Hoteliers decided to cancel the Gala Dinner packages for foreigners.
Thanks to General Prayuth Chan-ocha's Military Junta, blatant mistakes by Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Khunplome and his City Hall and the unacceptable behavior of Pattaya's Police the Resort did lose its visitors and had to pull the emergency brake.
City Hall announces
Important Announcement
During Christmas Pattaya City Hall installed these posters along Pattaya Beach Road.
They annonces that the sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited on public grounds. Violators have to pay a fine of 10'000 Baht.
The preparation of food, such as Somtam, is also prohibited. Violators will be fined 2'000 Baht.
The sellers of goods like Soft Drinks, Coffee or Tea are responsible to keep clean the area they are using.
According to Thailand's Law, smoking and/or drinking alcoholic beverages on public grounds is also prohibited, but is not yet punished in Pattaya.
Sex Touts in Pattaya
Despite the recent announcements of our Police Organisations that they had freed our World famous Walking Street of sextouts, these unwanted figures are still frolicking in the Soi - and there are more than ever!
Remove these annoying ragtags once and for all the times and arrest their employers or revoke their licenses at least!
Official Street Robbery?
Official Street Robbery in Pattaya
Since a few weeks Pattaya Police is intensifying their presence on Pattaya's streets with Checkpoints all over the city.
The Police belive their checks ensure safety on roads, observers of their works claim that it is officially sanctioned street robbery.
On Wednesday, December 9th, we observed by accident that a policeman stopped a driver of a Honda Enduro and fined him for 1000 Baht. According to the lovely policeman the legal and unaltered street version of the bike, bought at Honda's Big Wing Shop (managed by Mityon on Sukhumvit Road) was too loud.
He used his (certified?) ears only and no sound level measuring unit to determine the (too high) sound level.
A few days earlier we witnessed another scam at a checkpoint on Pattaya South Road.
A Policeman stopped a driver of a 50cc motorbike and asked him: How much cc has your bike?
The driver's response: 50cc.
Police: You know that you are not allowed to drive this bike on Highways?
Driver: Yes, I know.
Police: I have to fine you 400 Baht for driving on a highway.
Driver: I drove on 3rd Road only and on South Road. These are not highways!
Police: In your country perhaps. In Thailand these streets are highways.
Discussion superfluous. The policeman already captured the driver's licence. He had to pay the 400 Baht at Pattaya Police Station on Soi 9 to get back his licence.
But the most interesting part of the procedure comes now: The ticket was written in Thai, not readable for the Farang. It mentioned missing vehicle ID cards as the reason for the fine. The Policeman never asked for other papers than the driving licence and prudently missed to mention his scam...
Official Street Robbery in Pattaya
This kind of Street Robbery by Pattaya Police and other Organisations aren't new. The Internet is full of similar stories.
In 2011 we reported about a particularly flagrant case where Officials from Pattaya's Revenue Department confiscated a brand new motorcycle bought at Mityon because the owner couldn't produce the Import Tax paperwork...
In our News Flash from August 2015 we had to report that over 30 business operators who rent out motorbikes complained at Pattaya City Hall because our greedy Police stop tourists at Police Checkpoints on their rented bikes and charge them very high fines. Police fine drivers even if they are carrying the correct documents and licenses.
Update (December 13th):
We just learned that on November 27th & 28th during Pattaya's International Firework Competition our highly educated Security Organisations denied disabled persons on battery-powered 3-wheeled mobility scooters the access to our City's Beach Road as well as to our world-famous Walking Street...
Update (December 23rd):
Pattaya's Police Organisations are attacking Foreigners again:
Yesterday at about 01:00 more than 100 officers from a special operations unit and Pattaya police station together with Pattaya's Tourist Police raided the City's popular Walking Street and arrested Foreigners not carrying their passports.
According to our lovely Police the raid was ordered by Thailand's National Police Chief, the Chon Buri Police Chief and the Commander of the local Tourist Police Division to provide safety to tourists visiting Pattaya...
It seems our security forces do not have the slightest Idea how terrorists are working.
On December 16th, 2014, Pol Lt Gen Prawut Thawornsiri, a spokesman of the Royal Thai Police, told the press that tourists DO NOT need to carry passports at all times. A photocopy of your passport might do.
For additonal information please read Foreigners not required to carry passports at all times and Tourists report increased harassment by police.
Obviously Pattaya tries everything possible
to get rid of his Expats and its Foreign Tourists
Measuring of Noise
Measuring of Noise
Decibels (dbs) are used to measure the loudness (or volume) of a sound.
Decibels are a base 10 logarithmic unit, which means that increasing a sound by 10 decibels results in a sound that is twice as loud as the "base" sound.
The measuring of sound is standardized by international organisations. The international recognised method of measurements of motorcycles loudness is shown above.
Whispering produce a sound level of about 20 dbs, an ordinary unaltered motorcycle usually gives a measurement of about 80 to 85 dbs, same as the noise at a car wash or at a food proseccing factory. A modified Harley can reach a soundlevel of up to 115dbs, at Rock concerts the soundlevel easely reach about 110 dbs, but it will be topped by a Chainsaw (120 dbs) and a starting (military) Jet (140 dbs).

Dirty Tap Water in Pattaya
Tap Water in Pattaya
Since a few days Pattaya's highly professional Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) delivers dirty tap water to houses, residences and hotels in some part of this world class city.
Before you clean your teeth, your face or your body please check the quality of your water in a transparent class. If the water in the glass is colored or has some bad smelling buy one - or more - 6-litre bootle(s) of drinking water at the 7 eleven or Family mart around the corner.
Keep in mind: You not only 'clean' your body and your teeth with this water, Pattaya's hotels use this water to 'clean' your bed linen as well as your clothes and the restaurants use it to 'clean' the dishes and the vegetables and the salad...
Happy Holidays!
On November 3rd, 2015, Thailand's Government approved a draft rule for Motorcycle Taxis. The rule goes into effect nationwide and says
  • Motorcycle Taxi Drivers can not charge more than 25 Baht for the first two kilometers and five Baht per kilometer for the next five kilometers.
  • Motorcycle Taxi Operators can not charge more than 10 Baht per kilometer from the seventh to 15th kilometers.
That means Motorcycle Taxi Drivers in Pattaya have to reduce their rates dramatically:
A friend of mine lives about one kilometer from Pattaya's Bus Terminal on Pattaya's North Road. Depending on the driver he has to pay between 40 Baht and 60 Baht for a ride from the Bus Station back to his house...
Update November 4th, 2015:
Today the Authorities set up a checkpoint on Pattaya Third Road to check registration documents of Pattaya's Motorcycle Taxi Drivers, Pattaya One reports.
According to Thailand's Army only a small percentage of taxi drivers had correctly registered themselves and their vehicles until today...
Additional Information:
Pattaya's Taxi Driver didn't adjust their transportation rates to the new rule: A friend of mine still has to pay 50 to 70 Baht for his daily 3.2 kilometer ride. According to the new rule the ride should cost no more than 35 Baht.

Who needs Bali Hai Port?
In 2008 Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Khunplome and his World Class City Hall launched the construction of Bali Hai Port with a budget of 735 million Baht. Since then 2 construction companies have tried to complete the port. Both companies failed due to a breakwater issue, City Hall claims.
After the last storms, Deputy Mayor Ronnakit Aegasing, City Hall officials and Civil Engineers inspected the site and concluded that much of the infrastructure at the troubled boat parking area was displaced. Wave blockers, electronic and hydraulics equipment being damaged, some even beyond repair, these professionals claim.
It seems that the whole project was launched by complete amateurs: Ports located on the Adria or the French Riviera have to deal with much stronger waves and have the problems under control.

On November 19th Nongprue Sub-district Mayor Mai Chaiyanit chaired a donation ceremony at Sawang Boriboon Wittayakom School along with Nongprue police chief Pol. Col. Pramote Ngampradit and representatives from Mityon AP Honda and the Lions Club of Pattaya.
The celebrities donated 1'000 helmets to students of Sawang Boriboon Wittayakom School.
School Vice Principal Wichearn Pontawornpinno told the audiences that approximately 70% of students come to school on a motorbike.
He forget to mention that driving a motorcycle needs a drive licence. To get a drive licence even students have to have of an age of 18.
Therefore most students driving motorcycles on Pattaya's roads are driving their motorcycle illegaly, but our Police close their eyes.

Thailand's Military Junta has authorised internet providers in Thailand to shut down any websites with content that threatens the national security or violates Section 112 (also known as lese majeste) "in 30 seconds" without seeking approval from any authority.
The move is seen in response to a lack of cooperation by foreign media companies in removing content the Thai government finds offensive. For example, 2014 Google did not remove any content requested by Thailand's Military Junta.

Coup Leader
Military Junta Leader and Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha pushed back general election promised for late 2015, saying that election must come with a new constitution and eleven reform areas. Therefore he can stretch election into 2016 or 2017...
The Dictator and his wife have declared a joint worth of 128 million Baht in assets and 654'745 Baht in debt. He said he could not remember the details, but all of the items could be examined and verified. I can justify my personal wealth, he claims.
On May 9th, 2013, the General sold nine plots of land totalling 50 rai located in Bangkok's Bang Bon district to 69 Property Co Ltd. The company has a British Virgin Islands address, was registered just 7 days before the deal and belongs to Thailand's liquor and property billionaire Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi.
When Thaksin Shinawatra sold his AIS to Temasek Holdings, a company owned by the Government of Singapore, the very same Bangkok Elite called the deal a foulplay...
Selling assets to a foreign company is a legal way for Thai citizens to avoid paying taxes, but it seems it is a big difference if a member of Bangkok's Elite does the deal or a newcomer from Chiang Mai.
The Junta Leader ordered the media not publishing news about Thailand's former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Dictator Prayuth Chan-ocha claims that Thaksin Shinawatra violated Thailand's law.
Be aware of the NSA
Be aware of the NSA
The National Security Agency has built a network that can access as much as 75% of all U.S. Web traffic. With the help of Great Britain's Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), they control whole of Europe too.
Attack is the best form of defense
Hillary Clinton has accused China of stealing commercial secrets and government information.
She claims that China is trying to hack into everything that doesn't move in America.
It seems that the arrogant lady forget that America's Gangsters from the NSA are hacking whole the world, including China.

New Zealand supports the Criminals from NSA
Documents released by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden show that New Zealand's Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) spies on Vietnam, China, India, Pakistan, South American nations and a range of other countries to help fill gaps in worldwide surveillance operations by the United States National Security Agency (NSA).

NSA mass phone surveillance revealed by Edward Snowden ruled illegal
The US court of appeals has ruled that the bulk collection of telephone metadata is unlawful.
Let's hope this ruling opens the door to 'free' Edward Snowden and to bring the Gangsters from NSA behind bars.

SIM Cards hacked
The Criminals from The National Security Agency (NSA) and Great Britain's Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) hacked into the internal computer network of the largest manufacturer of SIM cards to get the encryption keys used to protect the privacy of cellphone communications across the globe.

France a step closer to a surveillance state
France's Constitutional Council approved a law giving state intelligence services a lot more scope.
Under the new law, surveillance agencies will be able to use so-called IMSI Catcher, spy devices that record all types of telephone, Internet or text-messaging conversations in an area.
They will also be able to bug suspects' flats with microphones and cameras and add keyloggers to their computers to track every keystroke.
The agencies will surveill President Francois Hollande private love-life first
Let's hope the agencies will surveill President Francois Hollande's private but controversial love-life first.
NSA chief Admiral Michael Rogers declined to comment on the latest reports that the NSA implanted spyware on commercially made hard drives, and that it worked with British intelligence to hack into the world's biggest maker of SIM cards to be able to access mobile communications.
During 2012 Russia offered the step aside of Syria's Assad.
The stupid US, Britain and France ignored the proposal.
Since the proposal tens of thousands of people have been killed and millions uprooted, causing the world's gravest refugee crisis since the second world war.

According to China-based research firm TalkingData Apple's iPad Pro sales are disappointing.
The company sold only 49'000 units in the first month.
The weak sales are believed to be the result of its (too) high price in China.
Nothing but Trouble
Yesterday at about 13:00 when we started our computers, Windows 10 told us that Microsoft is updating the Operating System (OS) and that we have to wait between 10 and 30 minutes until we can start working.
At about 16:00 Windows told us that it is (already) 91% ready.
At 18:00, still showing 91% ready, we had to restart the computers and reinstall the previous version of the OS.
Today at 01:00 we initiated the update by hand. Same result as before:
At 04:00 a message told us that the update ia 91% ready. Until we reinstalled the previous version at 06:00 nothing changed any more. The update program stopped working.
It's just another proof that Microsoft released shitty Operating Systems only after the company suspended Windows XP.
If you have the choice, do not upgrade to Windows 10, install Linux instead.
The People behind Linux know their job. They don't mix up a computer with a game console.
Update (December 23rd, 2015)
Yesterday Microsoft made a third attempt to upgrade its Windows 10 on one of our computers. The update failed again.
Since August 2nd, 2015, Microsoft had to update parts of its shitty Operating System more than 20 times.
Do you call this a Quality Product?
Upgrade - or not?
Thailand's Internet providers urge their customers to upgrade their contracts to 30 Mbps or more.
Is it worth to pay the extra price?
Yes: if you connect to sites within Thailand only or mainly watch sites located in Hong Kong or Singapore.
No: If you are using sites located in Europe, the USA or China.
The graphs below show parts of the test we run.
They proof that an upgrade doesn't improve speed with the rest of the world. The bottleneck seems to be Thailand's CAT. They manage the international connections for all providers.
