Pattaya Tourism crashed
The Director of the Thai Hotel Association (THA) revealed that Pattaya's tourism industry crashed during the last quarter.
According to Mr. Sunpetch the few remaining tourists from Russia prefer Phuket over Pattaya and the number of Chinese tourists decreased dramaticaly.
According to THA hotel reservations are very low with a plenty of empty rooms. Room rates are expected to remain low even during the coming high season.
In full contrast to the THA the president of the Pattaya Business & Tourism Association (PBTA) claims that there are still plenty of Chinese tourists coming to Pattaya and overall hotel occupancy remained stable. He even says that the 'new' visitors from China prefer to stay in better hotels and are spending more money in Pattaya.

Thai Military Junta shuts down Amnesty International news conference on torture
Don't tell us the Truth!
On September 28th Amnesty International had to cancel the public launch of a report on torture in Thailand after police in Bangkok warned the rights group that its representatives might be arrested and prosecuted for visa violations.
A few days before that incident, just before the Dictator left the country to attend the 71st UN General Assembly in New York, Thailand's Dictator General Prayuth Chan-ocha defended his country's rights record since he seized power in a 2014 coup.

The Rats are back!
The rats are back on Pattaya Beach and our Officials from City Hall close their eyes.
According to a report published by Pattaya Mail on March 11th, the City already launched a new offensive on beachfront rats.
It seems the 'offensive' was launched for publicity only. The rats still enjoy a happy life on Pattaya's Beach and its Promenade...
On September 2nd Pattaya City announced a new campaign to wipe out our lovely Beach Rats, this time using an alternative and non-toxic way. Our authorities placed over 50 wire cages along Pattaya Beach. To avoid unpleasant sighting by tourists visiting the beaches, they placed the cages during night hours only.
But on September 30th the City's Disease Control Department workers once again distributed poison to the chair and umbrella vendors to keep their areas free of rats.
As expected the much touted wire cages campaign was a complete failure, but not for the supplier of the cages...

Important Notice
Since General Prayuth Chan-ocha and his Military Junta launched their Coup d'état on May 22nd, 2014, Thailand's Visa ground rules are constantly changing. Magical Ice of Siam
Frost in Pattaya
Pattaya's new 'Artificial Ice' Park
On September 29th Frost opened its door near Regents International School Pattaya and the well-known Pattaya Sheep Farm.
Frost is an open air 'Ice Park' crammed with ice-sculptures made from anything but ice and an oversized freezer holding a bar with seats, two slides and a tuk-tuk made from (real) ice.
The temperature in the freezer is well below -20 degrees.
In our view Frost is made for todays selfie generation as most new entertainment parks in and around Pattaya.
Entrance fee is announced as 350 Baht but we paid a promotion fee of 280 Baht.

Pattaya Police discovers Prostitutes in our World Famous Beach Resort
On October 11th at about 18:30 Banglamung Police raided a Spa located somewhere on Pattaya 3rd Road and shocked the world with the news that the raided etablisement offered 'sexplicit' practices in addition to the announced massage services.
Raids like the one reported above shows our Police services in an extremly bad light and provokes laughing fits around the world, because almost every single tourist knows what happens in Pattaya's so called massage spas and parlours.
A few month ago when Pattaya's authorities visited our City's largest massage parlours on Soi Honey and on Pattaya 2nd Road they reported that they couldn't find any irregularities. Walking Street on October 13th at about 21:30
Pol Col Apichai Krobpetch, the Chief of Pattaya Police, revealed that the Governor of Chonburi declared that entertainment venue can open as usual; however, he says, any kind of entertainment would be totally cancelled.
People in the A Go-Go businesses told me that real life will resume in Walking Street and in other parts of Pattaya at 00:00 on October 17th, 2016, but that was probably wishful thinking only.
According to scientists, doctors and sports physicians any kind of dancing isn't entertainment but a special form of performance sport.
And how do our bureaucrats define Thailand's popular aerobic events? Is it entertainment or an event designed to strengthen the heart and lungs of its participants?
Nevertheless, the essential question of all our Sports Bars is still unanswered: Is looking an international football game pure entertainment, a stressful necessity of life for the human's well-being or a life threatening advertising event for Beer Chang?
Without clarifying the term entertainment, Thailand's Authorities open the door to another round of corruption.
Update (October 17th): According to an announcement of the Interior Ministry, Bars, Pubs and Clubs can operate normally as long as nobody passing by can see or hear what is going on. The statement was made after concerns that people working in the entertainment sector may not survive if their places of work were closed for a month or so.

Complying with Government regulations, Hot Tuna Bar is replacing its Rock musicians, including Thailand's Guitar King Lam Morrison, by snooker tables.
But who is paying for the living of all that unemployed musicians?
The Ladies and the Lights are back on Walking Street, but not the music. Insomnia only is distributing some noise to the otherwise quiet street. Bandstands like The Stone's House are providing foods instead of rocking sounds. The world famous Bamboo Bar is open and full of people even without musicians playing dance music. Be assured that the rest of Fun City will adopt Walking Street's behavior during the next few days.

Zero-Dollar Tour Crackdown
On September 9th Thailand's Tourist Police and Officials from the Revenue, Anti-money Laundering and Business Development departments raided the premises of OA Transport and impounded 2'155 buses and froze bank accounts containing 4.7 billion Baht.
It is said that OA Transport Co and 381 firms are operating Thailand's biggest zero-dollar tour* network.
Shortly after the raid Tourism Authority Thailand (TAT) released a statement claiming that the crackdown will have a limited effect on Chinese tourist arrivals, but the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA), the Thai Hotels Association (THA) as well as Representatives from Chinese tour agencies claim that their clients have already dropped by 60% on average after the crackdown...
The ATTA expected to see arrivals from China drop by 216'000 between September 12th and October 31st, incurring a loss of 4.32 billion baht in tourism revenue.

The European Car Industry introduced a New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) standard.
The NEDC is an updated driving cycle to assess the emission levels of car engines and fuel economy in passenger cars.
Testing electric cars according to NEDC means that a reading of a 400 km driving range gives you a real-world range of about 300 km only in urban or suburban areas.
The car manufacturers obviously don't stop cheating their customers.
Therefore, the recent announcements from Mercedes Benz & Co. that they cracked the 400 km driving range for electric car are nothing else than a pack of lies.
