The Great Dictator
The Great Dictator blocked
Following a request from the Govenment, YouTube had to block The Great Dictator, the movie, not Thailand's General Prayuth Chan-ocha, for viewers in Thailand during today's 85th anniversary of the Siam Revolution.
General Prayuth Chan-ocha and his handpicked Military Junta usually like to tell everybody how popular their Government is. Obviously they not even believe their own words.
The Great Dictator is a 1940 political satire starring the legendary Charlie Chaplin, who also wrote and directed the film to express his dismay at the rise of Adolf Hitler.

The world's 9th worst airport
Suvarnabhumi Airport,
the world's 9th worst!
Suvarnabhumi Airport, once announced as the Pride of Thailand, was now ranked as the world's 9th worst airport by AirHelp.com, a technology company that provides legal services to airline passengers who have experienced a flight cancelation, delay or overbooking when traveling into or out of the European Union.
As usual in cases like that, Suvarnabhumi Airport is questioning the scoring of the website.
It is well-known that the airport face a long list of problems: Unreliable security controlls, corruption, long immigration queues (staff have just one speed - slow), overprized Duty Free Shops, bad taxi services, departure usually is a nightmare - straight out of a bad action movie, almost no seating in public areas, etc.
AirHelp.com also publishes an Airline rating.
Thai Airways International ranks at 57 out of 87 airlines.
A recently released Global Report by the World Economic Forum named Thailand 19th in their ranking of the 20 most dangerous countries for tourists.

Immigration News
Important Notice
Since General Prayuth Chan-ocha and his Military Junta launched their Coup d'état on May 22nd, 2014, Thailand's Visa ground rules are constantly changing. More over, not every consulate can issue all the different Visas. Some smaller consulates even display notices to the effect that non-immigrant visas are unavailable.
Our advice: Before booking your holidays please contact the Embassy in your country to obtain information about Thailand's latest regulation(s) and check the Chonburi Immigration Website or the website of Thailand's Immigration Police.
Update (March 2016):
New Overstay Regulations
Thailand's new immigration policy will take effect on March 20th of this year.
Please click for details!
Busy Immigration
Pol Lt Gen Nathathorn Prousoontorn, chief of the Immigration Bureau, informed the media that between October 2015 and March 2016 Thailand's Immigration deported a total of 486'947 foreigners who overstayed their visas. Another 323'575 foreigners overstaying their visas still remain at large.
If the numbers mentioned above are correct, the Immigration Bureau deported about 2'700 people a day...
Congratulation!
Never trust a statistic that you have not manipulated yourself!
New 10-year Visa
Thailand's interim Government announced on November 22nd, 2016, that foreign residents over 50 will be able to apply for 10-year visas.
The new Visa would replace one-year renewable visas and come in two installments of five years each.
Applicants must either earn a monthly salary of at least 100'000 Baht or have more than 3 million Baht in their bank account, which cannot be withdrawn within the first year after receiving the visa.
Applicants also must also have a health insurance that covers hospital stays and provides at least US$10'000 in annual coverage.
Visa holders will still have to check in every 90 days with the Bureau of Immigration.
Up & Down
Thailand's Military Junta cuts the visa-on-arrival fee for tourists from Andorra, Bulgaria, Bhutan, China, Cyprus, Ethiopia, India, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, the Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan from today 2'000 Baht to 1'000 Baht.
The 1'000-Baht fee for visas sought at Thai embassies and consulates would be lifted.
The reduction is applicable from December 1st, 2016, to February 28th, 2017, only.
The change was announced less than two months after the visa fee was increased to 2'000 Baht on September 27th, 2016...
New Rules
Foreigners who enter Thailand without a visa via a land border crossing can now do so only twice per calendar year.
Those who seek to enter Thailand without a visa via a land border checkpoint for a third time in a calendar year may be denied entry and asked to apply for a regular visa first.
Entries through international airports are not affected by this new regulation.
While eligible foreigners who enter Thailand under the “visa exemption” scheme would previously get 30 days exclusively at international airports but only 15 days at border crossings, this rule has now been relaxed and all foreigners will receive 30-day entry stamps also at land border checkpoints.
The new rules went into effect on December 31st, 2016.
Free visas extended
Bangkok Post reports that Thailand's Government extended by six months to August free visas at Thai consulates and embassies and discounts on visas on arrival for visitors from 21 countries.

No matter where you are living...
Politics is a filthy business, no matter where you are living
The political establishment fights against Outsiders using all possible means, regardless of formal, democratic or legal procedures.
Acting US President Donald Trump calls it a unprecedented witch hunt.
France's Establishment, including now acting Emmanuel Macron, had a detailed plan to protect the Republic if far right leader Marine Le Pen was elected president.
No other coup
It seems that Thailand's Dictator General Prayuth Chan-ocha is preparing his subjects that he and his handpicked Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), also known as the Military Junta, will stay in power for a very long time.
On May 26th, 2017, the Dictator told his audience during his weekly TV show, that Thailand's voters should be able to answer the following four questions before the country can go to the polls:
  • Do you think the next election will get us a government with good governance?
  • If that is not the case, what will you do?
  • Elections are an integral part of democracy but are elections alone with no regard for the country’s future and others right or wrong?
  • Do you think bad politicians should be given a chance to come back, and if conflict re-emerges, who will solve it and by what means?
The four questions raised heavy critism but that shouldn't be a problem for the Dictator. Section 44 of the provisional Constitution stipulates that all orders from the Junta Chief, with the endorsement of the NCPO, on those matters are final. It gives Thailand's Dictator absolut power and Sections 47 & 48 legitimise all coup-related actions by the NCPO, by its subordinates, or by the subordinates of its subordinates, as well as all orders and announcements issued by them. It grants amnesty to NCPO members and anyone acting on its orders.
Nevertheless, let's hope that for the benefits of Thailand's society and the country's economic the Military Junta itself eliminates as fast as possible...
Fingerprinting required for mobile phone users
Fingerprinting required for mobile phone users
Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) announced that all mobile users must participate in the online fingerprint ID system for new prepaid and postpaid mobile SIM card registration, or they will not be allowed to use any mobile service in this country.
NBTC said it will launch the first batch of 30 machines on May 31st, about 30'000 machines will be installed by year-end.
From January 1st, 2018, all mobile users must participate in the system if they want access to mobile network service, a spokesman from NBTC said.
Each person's fingerprints will be stored on the national ID card database and on NBTC's very own 'secure' database.
NBTC's spokeman said the NBTC is focusing on the three southern provinces first in order to protect against bombings triggered via mobile phone signals but added that all mobile users who have registered via the existing registration system in the three southern provinces have to register again with the online fingerprint ID system by October. Those who failed to comply with the rule face a mobile signal cut-off.
The spokesmam said that NBTC is still figuring out how to verify the identities of foreigners...
P.S. Fingerprints aren't terribly secure; you leave them on almost everything you touch. Many people won't realize that fingerprints can be captured and reproduced from casual photographs. Fingerprints can be picked up off of paper, keyboards, and desk surfaces. If you press your finger harder into one reader than into another, or swipe differently, or have a cut, each reader gives a different result. But for the Military Junta its any easy way to gain control of allmost all the people living in this country.
It's no problem for professional gangsters to do their work without leave fingerprints behind. Moreover, with todays technology it's even possible to produce fake fingerprints, e.g. the onces from Thailand's Dictator, simply to confuse the country's highly professional working Police Organisation...
As expected:
Buying new SIM cards according to Thai National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC)'s fingerprinting system has already encountered several problems, The Nation reports.

Green Pappaya Salad or Som Tam is slowly killing Thais
According to Dr. Sutat Duangdeeden, the head of the Chonburi Cancer Hospital, Thai people's love of Som Tam is leading to higher cancer rates and deaths.
Pla Ra
The use of Pla Ra (also known as Pa La) or raw fish in Som Tam, as well as other undercooked foods like Poo Naa (brined crab), are responsible for increased rates of worm infections, which can lead to liver cancer, Dr. Sutat claims.
Opisthorchis viverrini is a parasitic fluke with a life cycle typical of parasitic helminths – complicated with many intermediate hosts for various life stages before reaching its intended location in the human biliary tract that supplies the liver.
In Northeast Thailand, Opisthorchis viverrini infection have been definitively linked to a regional delicacy known as pla-ra in which the fish are fermented for three months to a year.
If you are healthy you can eat as much as you like
Eggs are healthy
In 2012 a Canadian research group led by David Spence from Western University found that deposits in the arterial walls are accelerated by frequent consumption of egg yolks. The cholesterol contained in eggs can even clog the throat lines leading to the brain, which increases the risk of stroke, the scientists said.
But recent investigations are questening the results of the Canadians. Healthy people even can enjoy several eggs per day without running in any problems, the results of the latest analyses show.
However, restrictions apply for type 2 diabetics. If blood levels are poorly adjusted, cholesterol crystallization may occur when eggs are consumed.
Also, if your LDL cholesterol value is above 200 you shouldn't eat more than three eggs a week.
If too much LDL cholesterol is present in the blood, it deposits on the vessel walls. You will get inflammatory swellings on the vascular walls, the so-called atherosclerotic plaques.
Nevertheless, yolks from free-ranging chickens contain a lot of healthy Omega-3 fatty acid.
Losing weight, making sport and stop smoking is still the best recipe for a healthy life.
Forget all you ever heard about Cooking Oil
Healthy Food
Coconuts provide the perfect oil for pan frying, deep frying and oven baking
The chemical composition of an oil determines its usability and its quality.
The latest research shows that an optimal balance between Omega-3 and Omega-6 fats is crucial to our health.
We all know that Americans as well as some other Westerners are eating very unhealthy. Their Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio is 1:16!
A healthy ratio would be 2:1 to 4:1!
Healthy Food
The graph shows the chemical composition of the different oils
The above graphic shows that coconut oil is the perfect oil for frying, deep-frying and baking. It contains almost no Omega-6 but has a high smoke point.
For salads you should choose Flaxseed Oil over Olive Oils.
Flaxseed Oils have an almost perfect Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio of 3.2 : 1.
The Graph shows that the heavily advertised and so called 'healthy' Olive Oil contains much too much of Omega-6 fatty acids.
Olive Oil's Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio is an unhealthy 1 : 9!
Moreover, recent tests of 50 olive oils by the reputable Deutsche Warentest Institut showed that only one olive oil provided the expected quality, the remaining 49 oils couldn't get a recommendation from the vendor independed institut. They all had significant deficiencies in quality.
Note: Most olive oils are healthy only for their producers and distributors.

Where can I buy Coconut Oil in Pattaya?
Healthy Food
Coconut Oil at Central Food Hall (also known as TOPS Supermarket).
Thailand's wholesaler responded quickly: Big C, Foodland, Tesco/Lotus and TOPS, they all offer at least one product, mostly in a price range of about 125 Baht/litre. TOPS, at Central Food Hall at least, is currently offering the largest selection, from 95 Baht to 580 Baht/litre.
Update:
The secret to a long and healthy life? Eat less, the BBC recommends.
The information published above are based on researchs of independent scientists at European Universities, not on papers provided by industries, producers and/or distributors of oils.
Shortly after the publishing of the facts the American Heart Association (AHA) released a warning, saying that Coconut oil is as unhealthy as beef dripping and butter. It is packed with saturated fat which can raise "bad" cholesterol, MD Frank Sacks, the lead author of AHA's warning, claims.
Some Websites that published AHA's "findings":

Good to know:
The AHA (American Heart Association) and the U.S. FDA (Food and Drug Administration) do not provide their own test(s). Their recommendations are based on papers they collect from Universities and the industries.
The AHA is a sponsered organisation.
Against its better knowledge, the FDA claimed during decades that cholesterol is a main factor in heart diseases and helped Unilever (Becel), Pfizer (Lipitor) as well as others made a fortune with the unscientific information they published about Cholesterol.

When 2009 CPN's CentralFestival opened, Royal Garden Plaza sank into a long Sleeping Beauty slumber.
But during the last few months it looks like it is awakening from its sleep. It presents itself younger than ever.
New and attractive shops brought some color into the center. It looks now a lot tidier and clearer.
Shopping is fun again at Royal Garden Plaza.

The shop presents a large selection of great foods from all over the world, including tasty saussages and cheese.

Foodland also run a nice restaurant at Royal Garden Plaza. It is serving its popular dishes 24 hours/day at reasonable prices - and a lot more comfortable than the eating bar at its outlet on Central Road.

More Information
Pattaya claims to be a world-class beach resort. It's a lie! The city is not even capable to present an event calendar.
Most events are announced only a few days before they happen.
Other cities or even whole regions publish event calendars or event books covering all events of a year.
Pattaya suffers from megalomania.

No Alcohol Days
Thailand's National No Alcohol Days include Buddhist holidays and election days.
On all oher days alcohol can only be sold between 11:00-14:00 and 17:00-24:00.
Vendors caught breaking the ban are liable to a prison sentence of up to six months, a 10'000 Baht fine or both - but local Police use their own discretion to decide which venues need to be visited and fined...
Don't start laughing:
Do not try to buy non alcoholic beers (available from Clausthaler and Oettinger in this country).
The shops won't sell them during dry days.
Some not even sell Soda Water, because Thais and their Police associate it with (Thai) Whisky...

Electric Vehicles use batteries and batteries are not only a threat to our planet during manufacturing, the 'Recycling' of batteries is still an unsolved problem in most countries.
If the power for charging the batteries is generated by fossil or nuclear power plants than the LCA (life cycle assessment) turns completely to the worse.

Solar Cells are a threat to our planet:
The higher the efficiency of a Solar Cell the more Cadmium it contains.
Cadmium is banned from most products in almost all countries, but it can be used without restrictions in Solar Cells. Who controls the 'Recycling' of Solar Cells?

New iPhones
Our man in China reports that factories just started massproduction components for Apple's next-generation iPhones:
A 4.7-inch model and a 5.5-inch model will be built around reinforced glass chassis and an aluminium frame.
A somewhat larger 5.8-inch model is featuring a reinfarced glass chassis with a metal frame.
Samsung is the sole producer of the AMOLED display panel for Apple's new iPhones.
Amoled on the rise
It is a well-known fact that Amoled panels are superiori in color saturation, thinness and power consumption over TFT-LCD panels. They shine too with a shorter response time and higher contrast.
Therefore it comes to no surprise that Amoled displays will become the mainstream display in smartphones in the very near future.
Do you know BBK?
BBK Electronics of China is now the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world - thanks to its two brands OPPO and VIVO.
Samsung is still the top vendor with Apple coming in third place, just in front of Huawei, also a Chinese manufacturer.
Micromax, an Indian based smartphone company, is on the way to break into the top 10 vendors of handsets.
