In democratic countries, the accusations against Thailand's former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her brother, Thaksin Shinawatra, are recognised uniformly as false accusations raised by institutions that are neither independent nor were impartial.

New Rush of Megalomania
Thailand will challenge Singapore for supremacy as the region's hub for startup ventures under a vision set out by Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak yesterday, The Nation reports.
Thailand is very known in this world to declare the country as the Hub of anything and everything in Asia, ASEAN or the World.

A new report published by environment researchers in a journal called Nature Climate Change claims that almost 10 % of global CO2 emissions are from energy-intensive air travel.
Our conclusion: To reduce tourism-related carbon emissions ground all Airliners, scrap all cars and ships and let the people enjoy their holidays at home in their gardens.

Justice in Thailand
The unique Thai Criminal Law book, used just right, can either shut up an inconvenient critic by putting the fear of court into him, or put him in prison for a couple of years for using the free speech promised in the constitution. Or both.

Greedy Officials
Two Assistant District Chiefs and an Administration Official from Saraburi's Wang Muang distrct allegedly used names of 2'000 women to create fake marriage licences.
They 'married' them to Indian nationals without the women's knowledge.
For each certifcate the Indian applicants had to pay 2'000 Baht.
The Officials were already dismissed.
Disgraced Cop's Market Plaza demolished
A commercial building owned by a disgraced Police Official that hovered over a canal in northern Bangkok was being demolished Monday for trespassing on public property.
The demolition of Plaza Rimnam in the Don Mueang New Market began Saturday after district officials ordered it torn down by May 26th for encroaching into Khlong Prem Prachakon and for unpermitted building additions.
Construction was delayed 10 years without good cause. They charged a 3.3 million Baht yearly rental fee, so they made 33 million Baht. They really caused damages to the tenants and the Treasury Department, Police Gen. Wirachai Songmetta said.
The demolition was part of a police operation against a former policeman accused of extorting local vendors in the Don Mueang New Market and selling unlicensed cosmetics products there.
Lt. Col. Santhana Prayoonrat is listed as an owner of the market and the plaza building.

The police:
Your friend, helper and extortionist Where in Thailand are vendors not asked for protection money? You tell me, a vendor from a market in Bangkok asked Tourist Police Bureau deputy head Maj-General Surachet Hakpan.
The vendor said that besides paying rent for her premises, she also paid protection money to the authorities.
Vendors all over the country, including Pattaya, have to pay monthly fees for 'protection'.
These vermins not only extort money from vendors, all other kind of businesses are the target of this unscrupulous police and military officials.
For additional information please read Claims of widespread extortion racket at Bangkok market published by Pattaya One.
Update (May 13th):
Ex-police officer facing extortion charges defiant as he awaits bail.
The Nation writes that former deputy superintendent Pol Lt-Colonel Santhana Prayoonrat from the Special-Branch Police Division vowed I will never be defeated. I will sue every single one of them.
Unscrupulous Police Officers
Tourist Police deputy commissioner Surachate Hakparn claims that some unscrupulous police officers were helping foreigners obtain student visas at a cost of around 40'000 Baht as a "management" fee and added that Police are zeroing in on foreign criminals who enrol at language schools to obtain education visas.

Free WiFi on Pattaya Beach
Pol Maj Gen Pinit Maneerat, the Military Junta's spokesman for Pattaya, announced that the city has invested 24 million Baht* to install a free WiFi system along Pattaya Beach for the general public and tourists.
It's the third time City Hall announces a Free WiFi service during the last 10 years or so.
The last two times TOT Public Company Limited, a Thai state-owned telecommunications company, was responsible for the (failed) service.
This time City Hall claims that they made a 1-year contract with state enterprise CAT Telecom Plc.
According to Pol Maj Gen Pinit Maneerat CAT installed 24 hotspots along Pattaya Beach, from Dusit Thani to the Bali Hai pier area.
To use the Free WiFi users have to register with their personal details. In return they will get two hours of free access per day.
For its Thai citizens Pattaya City Hall published an instruction to register (automatically?) - but not for the City's real breadwinner - the tourists.
*On November 26th, a spokesman from City Hall corrected the press release and said that the City has to pay 14 million Baht/year for the 24 hotspots.
Unusable!
Our Testrun on November 25th shows that - at least for tourists - the announced service is not usable.
Using a smartphone communicating in another language as Thai it is impossible to do the required registration.
When connecting to @Pattaya City Free WiFi the display immediately asks for the passwort.
Moreover, the signal strength is satisfying only in front of a hotspot, in between it's mediocre and the signal is characterised by strong fluctuations with a maximum throughput of 1 Mbps.
The whole announcement of @Pattaya Free Wifi doesn't make sense.
It's nothing else than a bad joke!
Obviously the Government tries everything that Thailand remains a laughing stock
Update (December 1st):
Pattaya Mail writes that Surfing has taken on a whole new meaning on Pattaya Beach after the city launched free wireless internet access.
But they didn't check if the service is reliable - or not...
Important Notice
Since General Prayuth Chan-ocha and his Military Junta launched their Coup d'état on May 22nd, 2014, Thailand's Visa ground rules are constantly changing. More over, not every consulate can issue all the different Visas. Some smaller consulates even display notices to the effect that non-immigrant visas are unavailable.
Our advice: Before booking your holidays please contact the Embassy in your country to obtain information about Thailand's latest regulation(s) and check the Chonburi Immigration Website or the website of Thailand's Immigration Police.

Enjoy Thailand's Century old Traditions
Pattaya City Hall, managed by Thailand's Military Junta, and the Tourist Authority of Thailand (TAT) continue their stupid policy of last minute announcements of festivals.
The Thailand Cultural Music Festival 2018 was officially announced on May 17th, the Pattaya International Firework Festival 2018 on May 16th, 2018.
That's anything else but a professional management.
South Korean President Moon Jae-in says U.S. President Donald Trump deserves the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize.
He's right!
Former U.S. President Barack Obama received the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize for 'nothing' - for empty words.
It was a mistake. Even Nobel Secretary Geir Lundestad regrets Obama's Peace Prize.
Former President of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev received the 1990 Nobel Peace Prize for his contribution to the end of the Cold War.
Acting U.S. President Donald Trump is doing for Asia what Mikhail Gorbachev has done for Europe. He deserves the Nobel Peace Prize like no other.
The News People love Barack Obama because of his ability to talk to the journalists.
They hate Donald Trump for his ability to tell people the truth.
For the first time in almost 70 years there will be no Nobel Literature Prize this year, the Swedish Academy says.

Nothing else than empty words - since 2008!
During May 2008 (!) we published this picture. Since then nothing changed!
On May 14th, Bangkok Post published the following picture and titled its report Uproar over Pattaya beach wastewater. Bangkok Post writes that the Pollution Control Department is preparing to inspect the wastewater being released by hotels and buildings in Pattaya after netizens cried foul over photos shared online showing visibly polluted water being released at Pattaya beach.
The newspaper forgot to mention that not the hotels but Pattaya City Hall itself release the wastewater into the sea.
The Facts
On July 1st, 2017, we used the then 9-year old picture again in our report about Pattaya's stupid idea to introduce days without sun shades and deckchairs and mentioned that Pattaya City itself, not the hotels, exhausts its stinky wastewater directly into the beach.
On July 21st, 2017, Pattaya Mail wrote that South Pattaya sewage leak causes outrage because Pattaya's 15-year-old sewage treatment system could not send sewage to the treatment plant on Soi Nongyai due to broken pumps.
On October 13th, 2017, Pattaya Mail reported that Pattaya's Sanitation Department announced that South Pattaya Beach remains dirty and polluted as sewage continues to leak into storm drains during heavy storms until the broken pump repairs are done.
In our report about the The Legacy of
Itthiphol Kunplome (first published during July 2016) we mentioned that during rainy night times Pattaya's old pumpstation at the entrance to Walking Street is spitting dirty and stinky waters directly into the beach...

New Public Bus Services at U-Tapao Airport
On May 4th Thailand's Department of Land Transport (DLT) launched three public bus services connetcting U-Tapao Rayong Pattaya International Airport (oops...) with neighbouring Provinces of Chon Buri, Chanthaburi and Trat.
Route 398 will take passengers from U-Tapao to Trat, passing through Chanthaburi. The 220km route will take around three hours and 15 minutes to complete and will cost between 27 and 130 Baht.
Route 399 is serving the Rayong Bus Terminal 2. A trip will take up to 30 minutes and will cost between 11 and 24 Baht.
Route 400 connects the airport with Chon Buri, with stops at Sattahip, Pattaya and Sri Racha. The full 100 km trip will take about one and a half hours. A ticket will cost between 14 and 64 Baht.
Each of the air-conditioned buses can carry 19 passengers per trip and is equipped with GPS-tracking and automatic braking systems. The new routes are operated by private transport firms. The bus schedules will be configured according to schedules of the daily flights.
According to the Department of Land Transport (DLT) the Route 400 Bus will stop in 'Central Pattaya'...
We keep you posted.
On Monday February 15th, 2016 (!), Police Major General Ampon, the Provincial Police Commander, announced a big and so far unlimited crackdown on all kind of traffic violations, including Motorists who travel in the wrong direction along roads.
As our pictures show, nothing really happened.
Obviously announcements made by Pattaya City Hall and the City's Policemen are nothing else than hollow words.
Pictures are taken on Soi 8 in just a few minutes.
The road is just a few meters from Pattaya Police Station. Our Officials destroy the 'Good Image' of Pattaya - nobody else
We can't switch back!
The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), Pattaya City and the committee for Southern Pattaya Pier Regulating ordered bus and boat operators to use Bali Hai Pier to pick-up and drop off tourists and to free Pattaya Beach Road from the daily chaos.
The move was scheduled to take place on May 1st, but most operators continued to use the Beach Road area in front of the Hard Rock Hotel. They say they can not switch back because the NCPO did not give enough time to reorganize.
The funny side of the story:
About 50 soldiers and police were at the pier area to assist tour buses and boats that didn't turn up.
Operators explain that they could not adjust their schedule as tour packages had been sold months ago. Therefore they had to stick with their old timetable and using the Beach Road area.
It's just another proof that the Military Junta has learned nothing in the last four years: Obviously the Military Junta still has no idea how tourism works.
Update (May 11th):
Pattaya Mail reports that about 80 percent of the speedboats using Pattaya Beach have moved to Bali Hai Pier following the city’s failed attempt to move them a week earlier, but as expected, there weren’t enough docks for the boats...
Commanding without turning on the brain, obviously the typical strategy of a Military Junta:

It is your own fault if you entrust your data to a Mark Zuckerberg
On February 2004 Mark Zuckerberg, a 19-year old Harvard sophomore, launched a website called thefacebook.com. It was an instant hit.
But the new website has sparked a controversy very quickly.
A week after the launch, Mark was accused by three Harvard seniors of having stolen the idea from them.
Th allegation soon bloomed into a full-fledged lawsuit, as a competing company founded by the Harvard seniors sued Mark and Facebook for theft and fraud.
For additional information please read the investigation published by Business Insider.
The report shows the real face of Mark Zuckerberg.
One Glass of Wine or a Pint of Beer can help shorten your Life...
A recently published study of 600'000 drinkers estimated that having 10 to 15 alcoholic drinks every week could shorten a person's life by between one and two years. Moreover, people who drink more than 18 drinks a week could lose four to five years of their lives.
The new UK guidelines on alcohol was updated on 2016 and says that men and women who drink regularly should consume no more than 14 units a week - equivalent to six pints of beer or seven glasses of wine. That's a lot less than the recommended limits published in other counties: Limits in Italy, Portugal, and Spain are almost 50% higher than the UK guidelines, and in the USA the upper limit for men is nearly double this.
Please note that most of the studies are funded by the industry, but the UK study was funded by, among others, the British Heart Foundation.
For additional information please read the The Study published by The Lancet on April 2018.

Thailand launches new Banknotes (Rebroadcast)
On April 6th the Bank of Thailand launched new banknotes bearing the portraits of King Vajiralongkorn.
The first set of notes in 20-, 50- and 100-Baht denominations was released on April 6, or Chakri Day. The 500 Baht and 1'000 Baht bills will come out three months later on the King's birthday of July 28.
In the long run, the new banknotes will replace the current banknotes that have displayed the face of King Bhumibol for 70 years.
Wasting Taxpayer's Money: (Rebroadcast)
Is Pattaya City Hall wasting 14 million Baht?
On November 22nd, 2017, Pol Maj Gen Pinit Maneerat, the Military Junta's spokesman for Pattaya, announced that City Hall has installed a free WiFi system along Pattaya Beach for the general public and tourists.
Pattaya City Hall even published an instruction to register in Thai on its website.
Nevertheless, until today it's impossible to access the internet through @Pattaya City Free WiFi.
The 14 million Baht allegedly paid to state enterprise CAT Telecom Plc. for the 24 hotspots is a complete waste of Taxpayer's Money.
Update (March 31st, 2018): Pattaya City Free WiFi still does not work!
Update (April 4th, 2018): It is just another proof that most municipal Wi-Fi efforts end in disaster.

Dirty and stinky Tap Water in Pattaya
Stinking Tap Water in some parts of Pattaya
Since April 14th Pattaya's highly professional Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) delivers dirty tap water to houses, residences and hotels in some parts of this World Class City.
The water smells like fecal matter, but obviously nobody cares.
A Chemist told us:
Do not use Pattaya's water to clean your teeth.
Be careful and use Drinking Water when cleaning wounds and/or genitals.
Nevertheless, Pattaya's tap water is still less contaminated than the sea in front of this World Class Beach Resort...

An all new U+ Hostel opened on Soi Praisanee (also known as Soi Post Office).
The Hostel is located between the popular Bodega Bar and the well-knwn Miami A Go-Go Club. At the Bay, located on Pattaya Beach Road, the bay market opened. It's an outlet targeting Chinese Customers with a somewhat unkind presentation of the goods.
Even Europe's largest Discounter, Aldi and Lidl, present the goods a lot nicer...
On the street connecting Pattaya Third Road with Soi Phetrakul (the still unnamed street is sometimes (but wrongly?) known as Soi Paniet Chang) the T Pattaya Hotel opened in the neighborhood of Club NinetyNine and Hollywood Disco.
Little Walk, Pattaya's new Shopping Plaza located on Sukhumvit Road, takes shape.
The Little Walk Company already runs some Walk Plazas in Kaset-Nawamin, Ratchaphruek and Bangna - all of them located in the suburb of Bangkok.
Little Walk Pattaya is sheduled to open during August 2018.

Royal Garden's Starbucks Branch closed its Coffee Bar on the 3rd floor and is set to open a new outlet on the ground floor of the building, located between Thai Express and KFC.
Pattaya City Hall not only gave Soi Pattayaland 2 a new sewer, but also a new road surface. The once bumpy street is history. Bravo!
After completion of the work, all remaining businesses in the street have reopened, including the WakaWaka Bar.
Patrick's, a very well-known Steak House located at Second Road's Central Arcade, closed down for renovation. The Belgium owned Restaurant opened during 1991 and is best known for its Flemish cuisine.
We keep you posted.
At Soi 7, an entire bar complex, consisting of the Love Hearts Bar, the World Wide Beer Bar, the Aussie Bar as well as Anaconda - among some others - , had to be closed to make room for a new hotel.
The Aussie Bar found a new location and moved into Soi 8 in a venue in front of the Baron Hotel, formerly known as EM's Bar.

Patcharat Hotel, a small hotel located accross the well-known Sugar Sugar Club, closed down.
Background information:
Pattaya Authorities are continuing their crackdown on what they call 'illegal' hotels.
The majority of hotels, guesthouses and smaller apartments in this city offering daily and monthly at cheap and affordable rents are lacking documents to operate as hotels, Pattaya City Hall claims.
Our lovely Authorities say that the hotels will be given an opportunity to apply - and pay - for the needed docoments. If the owners do not comply, City Hall will close them down by court order(s).
As a result, many small hotel owners are thinking about closing their business - the owner of the Patcharat is just one of them.
The cheap hotels has long been a thorn in the side of the national and international hotel chains, because they undercut the often inflated roomrents of the chains.
According to the Thai Hotel Association (THA) more than 2'100 buildings provide accomondation in Pattaya. They represent 139'000 rooms. The THA claims that only 270 operators with a total of 40'000 rooms have registered as hotels.
Chatchawal Supachayanont, former General Manger at Dusit Thani Pattaya who serves as a board member for the THA eastern chapter - and also as the Honorary Consul of the Swedish Cunsulate in Pattaya - says that it's really hard to shift to serve only the high-end market, clearing out all the cheap products from the market.
The Thai Hotels Association has been lobbying for decades to clean up the hotel registration process and renewal of operating licences, saying illegal hotels and apartment buildings are robbing genuine hotels of their livelihood.
Now the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, which is part of Thailand's Military Junta, has adopted a policy to end illegal hotel operations and helps the chains to get rid of the unwanted competitors.

Apple postponed production of new MacBook and iPhones
Our source in China reports that Apple informed its supply chain partners that mass production of its new notebook model, a new MacBook Air with a slim design and a Retina display, will not kick off until the second half of the year.
