Pattaya got new Mayor
Thailand's Dictator General Prayuth Chan-ocha, in his capacity as leader of the ruling National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), issued an order today to replace the current Mayor, Anan Charoenchasri, with Sontaya Kunplome.
Sontaya Kunplome is the older brother of Itthiphol Khunplome, who acted as the city's Mayor from 2006 until 2016.
Both are sons of the Godfather of Chonburi and are members of the Dictator's cabinet.

Who tells the True?
Nida Poll, Thailand's National Institute of Development Administration, asked 1'291 people aged 18 and over on the Dictator's premiership.
According to NIDA, the majority of respondents are giving PM Prayut Chan-o-cha good poll numbers for his administration's performance over the past three years following the 2014 coup.
Deputy PM Prawit 'the Watchman' Wongsuwan was also named the most impressive Cabinet member in the same survey.
Thailand's Dictator General Prayuth Chan-ocha received a high approval rating of 81 per cent for his leadership and ideology while 82 per cent of respondents were impressed by his decisiveness.
But according to Bangkok Post, almost no one wants to see the coup makers on TV.

The pub is a popular meeting place for Thai people.

Free WiFi on Pattaya Beach
Pol Maj Gen Pinit Maneerat, the Military Junta's spokesman for Pattaya, announced that the city has invested 24 million Baht* to install a free WiFi system along Pattaya Beach for the general public and tourists.
It's the third time City Hall announces a Free WiFi service during the last 10 years or so.
The last two times TOT Public Company Limited, a Thai state-owned telecommunications company, was responsible for the (failed) service.
This time City Hall claims that they made a 1-year contract with state enterprise CAT Telecom Plc.
According to Pol Maj Gen Pinit Maneerat CAT installed 24 hotspots along Pattaya Beach, from Dusit Thani to the Bali Hai pier area.
To use the Free WiFi users have to register with their personal details. In return they will get two hours of free access per day.
For its Thai citizens Pattaya City Hall published an instruction to register (automatically?) - but not for the City's real breadwinner - the tourists.
*A spokesman from City Hall corrected the press release and said that the City has to pay 14 million Baht/year for the 24 hotspots.
Important Notice
Since General Prayuth Chan-ocha and his Military Junta launched their Coup d'état on May 22nd, 2014, Thailand's Visa ground rules are constantly changing. More over, not every consulate can issue all the different Visas. Some smaller consulates even display notices to the effect that non-immigrant visas are unavailable.
Our advice: Before booking your holidays please contact the Embassy in your country to obtain information about Thailand's latest regulation(s) and check the Chonburi Immigration Website or the website of Thailand's Immigration Police.

Military Junta's Baht Bus routing flopped
On December 24th, 2016, our lovely Military Junta announced new rules for Pattaya's popular Baht Buses, including the Junta's so called Bus lines. Moreover Baht buses had to load and unload passengers at signposted Bus Stops only. The Junta also banned all kind of Baht Bus chartering.
As with many other new rules introduced by the Military Junta, e.g. cleaning Pattaya Beach Road's public parking lots from Motorcycles Taxi Mafia and Motorcycle Rental Services, the new regulation never worked.
Since September 1st, all Pattaya Baht Buses removed their Line signs. The Chaos is back.
Beware, the Military Junta prepares new Bus Stops along Jomtien Beach Road, Pattaya Beach Road, Pattaya Second as well as Third Road and Naklua Road, mostly at places that nobody needs, not in front of Shopping Centers, large Hotels or Condominiums...
Rain washes away 468 Million Baht
Photo made on September 4th, 2018, at about 12:00
On September 3rd, the rain showed to everybody, even the most stupid 'experts', that not the global warming but Pattaya's uncontrolled floods as well as Itthiphol Kunplome's unqualified Beach Promenade are responsible for the erosion of Pattaya Beach.
While the old promenade prevented the water with a protective wall from flooding the beach, the new promenade miss such a prevention. The floods reaches the beach unhindered and flushes the sand back into the sea.

Military Junta installs Radar Traps all over Pattaya
Radar Traps on Pattaya Beach Road / Central Road
Pattaya's Military Junta installed Radar Traps on Pattaya Beach Road, Pattaya North Road, Naklua Road and on Sukhumvit.
The aim is to reduce accidents by drivers ignoring red lights.
The problem is, that the most dangerous intersections - North Road/3rd Road, Central Road/3rd Road and South Road/3rd Road - are not monitored.
Another problem is, that many drivers are undetectable. In full contrast to the almost perfect tracking of tourists and expats by Thailand's Immigration Offices, Thailand's Government has no idea where its native population is currently living.
The country miss any kind of resident registration system...

Many Reviews are faked
Online reviews are a mess. Nevertheless, they're still the first stop for consumers looking to buy some goods or services.
During the last few years, plenty of companies have been found to be manipulating reviews.
People around the world are making their living by writing (fake) reviews for Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, Clubs, Cars, Cosmetics and even Clothes.
Oobah Butler, a London based writer and a former fake review writer, even managed to catapult a non existing restaurant to the #1 spot on TripAdvisor.
Before you read the next review, think about: Why do you read almost daily positive news about APPLE and why does the whole press tries to make Donald Trump an idiot of a nation?
Bertolt Brecht:

Stop buying and eating 'Low Fat' or '0% Fat' Yoghurts!
You may reach for the low-fat or nonfat Yoghurts thinking it's healthy, but it could actually be packed with sugar. One serving of low-fat Yoghurts can contain as many as 30 grams of sugar. Whether declared on the list of ingredients as cane sugar, corn syrup or fructose, it is sugar.
Full-fat Yoghurts tend to have less sugar than low-fat Yoghurts - simply because they don't need it, they already taste great.
Recent research has shown that the low-fat craze was misguided.
Studies show that plain Yoghurts may help with weight loss and improve body composition, in part by increasing levels of the fullness hormones GLP-1 and PYY. Nonfat and low-fat Yoghurts contain minimal conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), another compound found in dairy fat that may cause fat loss.
In Thailand the shelves are full of low-fat or nonfat Yoghurts. Stop buying them!

Landlords ignore new regulations since May 1st, 2018
On February 16th, 2018, Thailand's Office of the Consumers' Protection Board announced a new regulation in the Royal Gazette.

Owners of condominiums and houses renting more than five rooms to individual tenants are prohibited from collecting electricity fees or water charges exceeding those of the state utility
Tenants are allowed to terminate the lease agreement prior to the contract expiry, on condition they give a month's notice
Owners are not allowed confiscating or moving the tenant's personal belongings even if he or she has not paid the rent or related service fees

'Supersale' Scam at Harbor Mall and Tukcom
Almost every month the management of Tukcom and Harbor Mall is launching a SuperSale campaign.
Banners and ads on internet announce 'discounted' products.
In the banner pictured above, the venues claimed to sell the latest Huawei Y7 PRO 2018 smartphone for 3'888 Baht instead of the usual 4'990 Baht.
The surprise comes, when you try to buy the phone at the announced day: The organizer does not ask the announced price of 3'888 Baht but 4'088 Baht, moreover, before you can get your phone you have to buy goods for 150 Baht at least at a participating shop.
The procedure happens every month with all announced products.
In most Western countries luring customers with false promises is illegal, but in Thailand one of the first thing students have to learn is that complaining is not appropriate in this country and that you have to accept every sh*t a higher-ranking person or institution tells.
Not 3'888 Baht as announced but 4'238 Baht at least
The good thing: Almost 30% of the available space at Tukcom and Harbor Mall is unused. Obviously, many customers are ignoring this outlets.
Wasting Taxpayer's Money: (Rebroadcast)
Is Pattaya City Hall wasting 14 million Baht?
On November 22nd, 2017, Pol Maj Gen Pinit Maneerat, the Military Junta's spokesman for Pattaya, announced that City Hall has installed a free WiFi system along Pattaya Beach for the general public and tourists.
Pattaya City Hall even published an instruction to register in Thai on its website.
Nevertheless, until today it's impossible to access the internet through @Pattaya City Free WiFi.
The 14 million Baht allegedly paid to state enterprise CAT Telecom Plc. for the 24 hotspots is a complete waste of Taxpayer's Money.
Update (March 31st, 2018): Pattaya City Free WiFi still does not work!
Update (April 4th, 2018): It is just another proof that most municipal Wi-Fi efforts end in disaster.

Dirty and stinky Tap Water in Pattaya
Stinking Tap Water in some parts of Pattaya
Since April 14th Pattaya's highly professional Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) delivers dirty tap water to houses, residences and hotels in some parts of this World Class City.
The water smells like fecal matter, but obviously nobody cares.
A Chemist told us:
Do not use Pattaya's water to clean your teeth.
Be careful and use Drinking Water when cleaning wounds and/or genitals.
Nevertheless, Pattaya's tap water is still less contaminated than the sea in front of this World Class Beach Resort...

Roaches populate Pattaya Beaches (Rebroadcast)
During the last few months cockroaches have joined the rats on Pattaya's World Class Beaches.
As usual, our lovely Officials blame the tourists to cause the plague:
On July 13th, Kanrapa Mukdasanit of the Disease Control Department blamed the city's tourists as well as its locals for the insect scourge. They do not dispose their food, trash and other waste correctly, the 'well educated' Official claimed.
Obviously he never visited the beaches:
The cockroaches are nesting and swarming around Pattaya's putrid beach outflow pipes. Pattaya City Hall has to be blamed for the cockroache invasion, not the city's tourists. City Hall itself spilles the unthreated sewage into the sea.
Update (September 21st):
Pattaya Mail: 27 rats caught on Pattaya Beach

According to reports, our lovely Police already urged several tourists to pay the 3'000 Baht fine.
Pedestrians are fair game on Pattaya Beach Promenade
Released for discharge

During 2016 an Egicogroup announced a prestigious project on our old fashioned Walking Street.
To the left and to the right of the entrance to Soi BJ the company claimed it will built two modern glass palaces with Coyote Clubs, Bars, Night Clubs and a Hotel with a large parking space.
Midnight Pattaya also claimed that the first venues will open during 2016 and 2017.
Most of the buildings are still empty and an eyesore on Walking Street.
A large LED display at the entrance to the still ailing Soho Square tells that the Soho Square Complex is on the block.
CoCoon at the entrance to Soho Square opened on December 23rd, 2017, as a we do it all nightclub, a concept that usually doesn't work in Pattaya.
Therefore it was no surprise when the club closed down on April 31st, 2018.
Since then large banners claim Closed for Renovation, but nobody in the neighbourhood could spot some working people in the building during the last few months.
