Another new Format for Pattaya?
Thailand's new Minister for Tourism and Sports Pipat Ratchakitprakarn claims that hosting international sporting events not only brings in visitors but introduces the country to the competitors and their teams.
Pattaya specifically is working on becoming a Sports City, he said.
Obviously Ittipol Khunpluem's dream of turning Sin City into a paradise for families has already failed.
End the stupid TM30 Form

Swiss National Day
Let's celebrate the Swiss National Day with Cervelat and Bratwurst and a big Thank You to Christoph Blocher for preventing the Swiss nation from joining the European Union
But in Reality we simply don't care...
Newly renovated but unused Police box, Pattaya 3rd RoadBuggies, Pedestrians, Wheelchairs - who needs them?
Who cares?
The bottleneck on the way to Walking Street has now been embellished with electric cablesTens of thousands of tourists have to make their way here every day.
Who cares?
There are benches on Pattaya's Beaches, but there is no maintenanceBrocken Benches on Pattaya's 500 million Baht Beach.
Who cares?
South Pattaya Wooden Walkway
Bali Hai Wooden Walkway
Wooden walkways are not maintained by Pattaya City Hall and are broken in no time at all
Due to lack of maintenance, the fountain at Bali Hai Pier is no longer in operation and a real security risk, but Pattaya Mayor Sontaya Kunplome and his team seem to have plenty of money to embellish the resort with all kinds of kitsch.
Who cares?
Obviously Pattaya is a Careless Family & Beach Resort
Double Standards ...
Barriers outside Bravo Boutique Hotel on Soi 17 preventing the blocking of the entranceAccording to Pattaya Mail, Police told the Hotelier to remove the barriers.
The road is public property and the steel gates were illegal, our well educated Police told the Hotelier and the Press.
Police removed the food cars but motorcycle taxis and motorbike lessors still block public parking spaces on Pattaya Beach Road as well as on Jomtien Beach Road
Obviously, Pattaya's Mafia is dictating the rules.
Brainless planning?
The History
In 2013 Ittipol Khunpluem, the younger brother of today's Mayor Sonthaya Kunploem, and his team started to redesign Pattaya's Beach Promenade.
In order to expand Pattaya's beachroad from two to three lanes, the new promenade became about 2 meters narrower.
Ittipol's 'highly educated' people obviously forgot that Pattaya has been hit by annual floods for decades.
Be that as it may, the installation of an appropriate sewer system was dispensed with.
Today we have to pay the bill for this brainless omission
The third lane will now be torn open on the entire 2.9 km long Beach Road to lay 50 cm wide sewer pipes, as Pattaya Mail reports.
The work will take at least 7 months and cost about 95 million Baht.
An expert in wastewater issues from our home country believes that the drainage pipes used are not suitable to cope with the water masses. In his opinion the pipes should have a diameter of at least 1 meter.
In addition, additional pumps would have to be used, because otherwise the sea would push the waste water back into the pipes, he claims.
Let's wait and see how it goes.
Update (August 23rd):
In contrast to media reports, City Hall does not install 50 cm wide sewage pipes on Pattaya Beach Road. City Hall does the job properly and lays down 180 x 180 cm wide pipes!
Facts and fakes
There is no prostitution in Pattaya, our well informed Police claim...
On July 21st, 2019, Bangkok Post published a report entitled Diving into sex work. It claims that Thailand has about 300'000 sex workers and that a large proportion of these women come from neighbouring countries, Cambodia, (August 23rd)Laos and Miamar. The figures were allegedly included in a Thailand Migration Report published by the UN in 2019.
In my opinion and from my experience both claims are absolutely wrong, wishful thinking. Thailand tends to blame foreigners for all issues.
On August 31st, 2018, The Nation published an report entitled Time to rethink prostitution ban. It put the number of Thai prostitutes at anywhere between 800'000 to 2 million.
2 million, this number is more likely to be true.
It should not be forgotten that the majority of sex workers do not work for tourists, but still mainly serve local men. Almost every village, however small, has its own karaoke bar or brothel. Even the sex education of the male population still takes place in the brothel: The father brings his son(s) to the prostitute, so that she teaches him the essentials. Talking about sex is still taboo at home and at school.
Thailand's poor economic situation is doing the rest and is bringing young talents into the corresponding etablissements.
I live in a small village of 23 houses. All are inhabited by heterosexual Thai couples. Some of them are married. I'm the only Farang in this area.
I know five women that they supplement their livelihood with an extra income from a foreign sponsor. Their actual Thai partners know about it and benefit from the additional income.
These ladies will never appear in a statistic about prostitution.
Selfies made at Terminal 21 are still hot on social media platforms
Terminal21 is the City's utmost Airport Shopping Mall on Pattaya North Road
Despite the large number of condominiums, Jomtien's beaches, shops, restaurants and bars are mostly empty.
The impression is created that almost all of these condominiums are vacant or even unsold - Ghost Town Jomtien.

No Alcohol Days
Thailand's National No Alcohol Days include Buddhist holidays and election days.
On all other days alcohol can only be sold between 11:00-14:00 and 17:00-24:00.
Vendors caught breaking the ban are liable to a prison sentence of up to six months, a 10'000 Baht fine or both - but local Police use their own discretion to decide which venues need to be visited and fined...
Don't start laughing:
Do not try to buy non alcoholic beers (available from Clausthaler and Oettinger in this country).
The shops won't sell them during dry days.
Some not even sell Soda Water, because Thais and their Police associate it with (Thai) Whisky...

Thailand's National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department ordered that admission fees for foreigners at national parks throughout the country have to be 400 Baht.

To cover the inequity the local's prices are printed in Thai script only.
No progress on Jet Ski saga:
Pattaya City Hall still doesn't do anything to stop the scam!
All the announcements made during last year were City Hall Blah-Blah only...
As long as Jet Ski vendors - respectively their victims - fill up our officials' pockets nothing will happen!
Update (published by Pattaya Mail): Problems with Jet Ski operators unsolved. The boats are overloaded, don't provide lifevests for all passengers, are badly maintained and aren't covered by adequate insurance policies.
Pattaya's lazy and allegedly corrupt Officials promised to check owners, personnel and boats regularly, but they don't. According to Pattaya Police, it is common in this resort that foreign tourists get drugged and robbed in their hotel rooms, apartments or houses by prostitutes or ladyboys. Ladyboy Pick-Pocket Gangs are working almost daily on Pattaya's Beach Promenade! Never wear Gold in Pattaya! Between 30 to 50 snatching valuables cases are reported to Pattaya's Police every single month. Beauty is in the Heart, not on the Bones
