The Provincial Government of Banglamung and Pattaya City Hall have decided to close the entrance to Pattaya
On Thursday, April 9th (!*) at 14:00 people could only enter Pattaya City with special permission, a plausible reason and a passport or identity card
UPDATE (April 10th):
As expected, the first day of Pattaya's seal off started with a chaos caused by mismanagement of Pattaya City Hall, its Mayor Sontaya Khunpleum and the security forces
Bangkok Post: Pattaya to adjust lockdown
Pattaya Mail: Pattaya Lockdown lifted
The Pattaya News: New checkpoint areas determined for Pattaya
UPDATE (April 13th):
According to Pattaya City Mayor Sontaya Khunpleum the new lockdown will start on Wednesday, April 15th, during afternoon.
UPDATE (April 14th):
The closure announced yesterday on Wednesday, April 14th, is only a temporary closure, called a Test Run by the responsible authorities and will take place from 06:00 to about 18:00 (and not at 15:00, as previously stated by the authorities).
On Thursday, April 16, the "real" closure of Pattaya will start at 14:00 and will last about 3 weeks - unless the authorities change their mind again ...
It seems that the officials involved are completely overwhelmed

Be aware:
The most dangerous place to fall ill with a virus or bacterium is a hospital, warned a doctor on German television.
Comedian Eddie Large dies with coronavirus contracted in hospital
In Germany alone, several thousand people die every year from multi-resistant germs.
Worldwide there are an estimated 700'000 deaths.
This is a developing story: We'll give updates on the situation as we learn more
Kill the Virus
Kill the Virus
  • Wash your hands with a good soap.
Hands are one of the most common ways that a virus spreads from one person to the next.
Most viruses and some bacteria have lipid membranes that resemble double-layered micelles. These membranes are studded with important proteins that allow viruses to infect cells and perform vital tasks that keep bacteria alive.
These lipid (fatty) bilayer are the weakest link of a virus.
When you wash your hands with soap and water, you surround any microorganisms on your skin with soap molecules. Soap dissolves the fat membrane and the virus falls apart.
  • A virus can not enter your body throught the skin. The virus get into your body through your eyes, nose or throat.
Therefore it is important to protect your eyes, nose and mouth, at least if you are one of those people who likes to touch the face with the hands.
Keep in mind, that the average person touches the face 23 times per hour.
  • The coronavirus is spread from person to person when someone with the virus coughs or sneezes. So people in close contact are at high risk.
The influenza virus is spread in a similar way. A study shows when healthcare workers are within 1.8 metres of patients with influenza, their risk of being infected is increased.
We therefore recommend to stay away from mass gatherings and to keep a distance of 2 meters to other people.
Nowadays this behaviour is called social distancing and is a tool to slow down the spread of a disease that is passed on from person to person.
  • Avoid the polite but unsanitary greeting by shaking hands.
Rather nod your head or use the WAI that is common in Thailand.
  • Stay at home - and wait for better times!
Smog in the North
Thick Smog in the North
Air quality in the north of Thailand is actually hazardous, as bushfires in Chiang Mai's Doi Suthep-Pui National Park have causes air quality to become nearly 20 times higher than Thailand's safe limit of 50 micrograms.
On March 28th, PM2.5 rose to 925 micrograms per cubic metre in some locations around Mae Hong Song, Lampung and Chiang Rai.
Last month the Royal Thai Army announced it would head to the northern provinces, track down and arrest plantation and farm owners who were allowing fires to be started on their properties. They would work with local rangers to detect the fires and enforce orders from the government not to light fires to clear land in preparation for new crops.
As our photo and the measurements show, nothing happened.
Empty promises as always!
Deadly Cables
Since more than 2 Month
On February 4th, 2020, a fire destroyed the cables connected with this pole.
The PEA (Provincial Electricity Authority) as well as Sophon Cable TV reacted quickly and installed new cables within a few hours.
TrueMove, however, needed three days to solve the problem.
So far so good.
But apparently the parties forgot to remove the damaged cables.
A well-known phenomenon that can be observed everywhere in Pattaya.
But here it is particularly dangerous because there are many small children playing in this area.
Do the residents really have to wait for an accident before the damaged cables are finally removed?
Dirty Tap Water Updated
No Improvement
Dirty Tap Water
On February 12th, 2020, Udom Thipdecho, director of the Chonburi Provincial Irrigation Department, as well as some Officials from the Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) told the Pattaya Business & Tourism Association that they have reduced the water pressure as much as 20 percent in some areas, but nevertheless the entire region still has running water.
Now almost all the hotels are closed, Pattaya City has sealed off its tourists, Songkran, the water splashing Festival, has been cancelled and many Thais returned home, but the situation has not changed. It seems that the Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) lied to us with their statements about Pattaya's water reserves.
The water is still delivered by privat companies by tank trucks. it is not tested by any authority or institute and in many cases it is anything but clean. It often contains sand and other dirt particles, sometimes it even smells of chemicals.
Therefore, extreme caution is required when tap water is delivered by private water suppliers.
Updated
On March 14th Pattaya Mail reported that Nongprue is testing the quality of private water sources. Our informants told us that nothing had changed. Their water is still as dirty as before!
Updated
On April 8th Pattaya Mail reported that Water trucks swimming in business in dry Thai town.
Updated
On April 9th The Pattaya News reports that Pattaya water levels remain low as Chak Nok reservoir sits at roughly 5 percent of capacity and writes that the PEA has asked people to be prepared for temporary outages over the next several days and keep a supply of three to four days of water.
Updated
On April 11th The Pattaya News writes that Sattahip and Chonburi officials meet to discuss solutions for severe water supply issues in area.
Updated
On April 14th Pattaya Mail announced that Pattaya begins water rationing.
In our eyes an admission that the previous information of the PEA was completely wrong, nothing but the usual window-dressing!
