Emergency Decree
On September 27th, 2021, Thailand's cabinet extended the state of emergency nationwide for two months, until the end of November, allegedly to cope with the local Covid-19 situation.
The extionsion was proposed by the National Security Council (NSC).
The NSC functions as the operations unit of the government's Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration and is supervised by Thailand's Prime Minister, Dictator, Songwriter and the man of many words Prayut Chan-o-cha.
This is the 14th extension of the special law.
The government insistes that the extension is necessary to facilitate the swift and integrated implementation of measures to control Covid-19 for the sake of public safety.
The special law was enacted March 26th, 2020, and gives Prayut Chan-o-cha wide-ranging powers, including a ban on large gatherings to prevent anti-government protests.
October 30th:
Under Section 9 of the Emergency Decree, a new order has been issued, signed by General Chalermpol Srisawat, Chief of Defence Forces, banning gatherings and activities deemed to pose a "risk of spreading Covid-19 throughout the country". The order was published in the Royal Gazette on Friday 30 October 2021 and states that all gatherings that pose a risk of spreading coronavirus disease or worsening the plight of people are banned throughout the country.

In preparation for the first phase of the country's reopening on November 1, Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, in his capacity as head of the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), ordered to have curfew lifted in 17 provinces, including Bangkok, from October 31st.

Bangkok Post reports, that TAT, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, is focusing on quality, first timer tourists.
The proposal has not only been received with goodwill.
Critics are drawing the TAT's attention to the fact that before quality tourists come to Thailand, the following things need to be fixed: Infrastructure, pollution (no rubbish on the streets), drinkable tap water, no double prices.
Quality and (in the eyes of TAT) rich tourists do not like to be cheated by hotels, taxi drivers, shops, hospitals and police. A quality tourist wants to enjoy his holiday without everyone coming to sell him inferior goods and/or services while he is lying on the beach.
And why first-time tourists, they wonder, and they have the answer right away: the TAT probably believes that these are easier to cheat!
Obviously, the officials of the TAT believe that rich first-time tourists are anything but clever, i.e. easy-to-cheat suckers.

Dirty Tap Water again
Same procedure since many years!
 For almost a year now, the Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) has been maltreating at least parts of the population of Naklua, Pattaya and Jomtien with dirty and sometimes foul-smelling tap water.
There is no end in sight, because this phenomenon is not new: the PWA has not been in control of Pattaya's water supply for decades.
As a local or foreign tourist, I would think twice about booking this area as a holiday destination, as this dirty water is not only used for washing clothes, but also for the 'cleaning' of all eating utensils. Your body, and therefore your immune system, also has to deal with this broth on a daily basis.
Our advice:
Stay at home or choose another, cleaner holiday destination!

Jomtien Night Market
 Jomtien's unique Night Market on Jomtien Beach Road reopened on October 15th.
The popular food bothes open daily at 17:00 and feed hungry mouths until 21:00.
Here, too, alcoholic drinks are not (yet) offered.  Expat Foods
 Jomtien Expat Food on Jomtien Beach Road, located in-between Soi 10 and Soi 11, offers a wide selection of popular food items at very reasonable prices.
Look out for the entrance to Jomtien Beach Condominium.
The shop itself is located on the first floor of the apartment block.  Italian Food
 Tindoro, also located at on Jomtien Beach Road at the entrance to Jomtien Beach Condominium, opened a kiosk with delicious Italian dishes, burgers and fries.
Eating at Momento Beach Resort
 Cheap but tasty (French, Italian and Thai) food by the swimming pool. This is possible at Memento Beach Resort in Soi 8, off Thepprasit Road.

 On Naklua Road, in front of the Lumpini Condominiums, this nice ice cream outlet shop called Rarey has opened.

 This pork steak costs 69 baht at K'Mai Steak. It comes with a delicious pepper sauce, fries and a fresh salad.
K'Mai is a small open-air restaurant on Pattaya 3rd Road, opposite the Korat Bus Stop and the new Shambhala Hotel.

 TQ Tahitian Queen has changed the early announcement (above) to a new date (below). Probably not the last change
 TQ Tahitian Queen, Pattaya's oldest bar on Pattaya Beach Road, wants to reopen on January 16th, 2022. To this end, the management is looking for staff and is willing to pay 10'000 Baht for 10 days' work.

 Witherspoons Seawiew, on Pattaya's Beach Road, closed down.
Coffee with Cannabis
 A Southern Coffee shop has opened in the premises of the former Señor Taco and German Food & BBQ outlet. It follows a popular trend and also offers canabis.
Señor Taco and German Food & BBQ have moved to the first floor of the R-Con Residence in Soi Buakhao.
Tasty Thai Food
 On the corner of Soi Phettrakul / Pattayaklang 12 Soi 10, Ban Burakorn replaces a former German restaurant.
New Dance Bar
 Currently, the Indian Curry Restaurant & Bar, formerly also known as Bartiyam Restaurant, in Soi Praisani (Soi Post Office or Soi 13/2) is being converted into an all new Indian Dance Bar.

 In a joint venture with Witherspoons and Señor Taco, Strandküche, a German Bistro, has also moved to the R-Con Residence on Soi Buakhao. On Pattaya Beach Road, it was known as German Food & BBQ, among other things.
Jamaica goes Lk Metro
 Soi Buakhao's popular Trench Town bar opens a branch in Soi LK Metro. What was known as The Thirsty Camel will soon be Trench Town LK Metro.
Addendum: The management closed down its Trench Town Soi Yamato branch.

 Ballers Bar hopes to open soon in Soi Honey (Soi 11), off Soi Buakhao. It is located in-between Hunny Lounge (a Gentleman's Club) and Runway Bar.

 A few months ago, the Cha Bear Shop replaced part of the iconic (Belgian) Dre's Bar. For a few days now, the remaining part of the place has been occupied by a nice Thai food outlet with reasonable prices. At Passorn's Kitchen delicious food is available from as little as 40 Baht!

Virus Warnings
Dengue Fever
 While Thailand seems to have the corona virus under control, the situation with dengue fever, another viral disease, is extremely worrying in the Kingdom, especially during the rainy season.
Thailand's Public Health Officials advise people to make sure that there is no standing water around their homes, as this is a breeding ground for mosquitoes carrying the dengue virus.
 Chikungunya
Another dangerous virus in this area is the Chikungunya virus. It is spread to people by the bite of an infected mosquito.
The most common symptoms of infection are fever and joint pain. Other symptoms may include headache, muscle pain, joint swelling, or rash.
The Chikungunya virus was found for the first time in the Americas on islands in the Caribbean in late 2013.
The virus was imported by infected travellers into new areas such as Thailand.
Currently there is no vaccine for prevention or medication to treat a Chikungunya virus infection.
Measles
Measles is a highly contagious infectious disease caused by measles virus.
Symptoms usually develop 10–12 days after exposure to an infected person and last 7–10 days. Initial symptoms typically include fever, often greater than 40°C, cough, runny nose, and inflamed eyes. Small white spots may form inside the mouth two or three days after the start of symptoms. A red, flat rash which usually starts on the face and then spreads to the rest of the body typically begins three to five days after the start of symptoms.
Measles is an airborne disease which spreads easily from one person to the next through the coughs and sneezes of infected people.
No specific treatment is available but the measles vaccine is effective at preventing the disease and is exceptionally safe.
