Thailand's former Prime Minister a Cheater?
A Pheu Thai MP for Samut Prakan claimed he had evidence to show the opposition leader and Thailand's former Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva was absent when members of the House of Representatives voted on an amendment to the Land Transport Act's vehicle weight control regulations.
Mr Abhisit's seat was vacant but his name appeared after a quorum count had been called and MPs had cast their votes...
It seems the lovely Democrat Party leader took his lesson from the EU Parliamentarian's movie! They usually cash in without being present.
Automatic Passport Screening System
On April 11th 2012 the automatic passport screening system at Suvarnabhumi Airport went into operation.
The Immigration Bureau spent 76 million Baht on the system known as Autochannel. At the moment it can be used by Thai passport holders only.
The system works fine and received a lot of compliments from passengers.
It needs an average of 15 seconds only to read the passport, scanning a finger and taking a photo. That's half the time it takes to be processed manually by a work-crazy immigration officer.
City Hall announces:
Itthiphol Kunplome's famous Family Resort of Pattaya announces the upcoming Miss Air Sea Land Pattaya Competition 2012.

The beauty pageant will take place somewhere later this month (no date confirmed!) and is aimed to promote Pattaya and its surrounding areas as a world class tourist destination...
We just learned that the beauty contest happened on April 23rd 2012 at Central Festival Pattaya Beach Mall. Obviously an event for insiders only...

The Corrections Department announced drastic action against rogue prison officials who refused to turn over a new leaf...
WOW!
Bangkok Bank filed a 75.87-million-baht suit with the court for the embattled health club California Wow.
California Wow reported 2011 net losses of 246.6 million baht, and another loss of 467.3 million the year before.
California Wow runs a fitness center in Pattaya at the ailing The Avenue.
The venue actually known as La-La Pub on Pattaya 3rd Road, a few month ago it was called Boom Boom and before Luna-La, closed.
PS.: The venue reopened as Let's Play Lun-La.
Sabailand, one of Pattaya's most popular Body Massage Parlour located on 2nd Road at the entry to Soi 3, closed.
The building is now 'macerated' and presents itself like a skeleton.
But we learned that the venue will reopen in a few months: Larger, more beautiful and a lot more comfortable than ever, incorporating the small apartment house in front of the former building.
Tom Boy Club closed
T.M., the Tom Boy Club on Soi Phaniat Chang and just behing BigC Extra!, closed.
World Super Club - 2
Jim Bean's Cocktail Lounge on Soho Square closed. The sign is still in place but the venue is empty. The bar opened on February 25th 2012. Life can be very short on Pattaya's Soho Square.
The Irany Disco at the very same Soho Square World Super Club location closed its door.
On the block
Venus Lounge, located on Pattaya 3rd Road and closed since May 2011, is now on the block.
The Sign is back!

The new venue is located just across from Pattaya's famous Lolita's and will open in the near future.

Nevertheless, the venues are in the dark now...

Be aware
2012 is the Year of English Speaking, the Thai Ministry of Education announced.
The program will be initiated in schools and will involve plenty of academic activities. It will let teachers and students have opportunities to speak English and build their confidence in using it without excessive concern about grammatical errors.
NightWalker and his Team have the same approach - since many years...
Songkran
The high-pressure guns, often used during the water splashing festival, are banned in Thailand since 2003.
Nevertheless, the illegal guns were still sold and used in several provinces, including Bangkok and Pattaya.
This year even the sale and use of talcum powder was not been allowed - at least on Bangkok's Khao San Road.
However, Pattaya's Songkran Festival had another face. A reason for NightWalker and his crew to stay at home during this crazy time of the year.
Officially the Pattaya Songkran Festival happened from April 13th until April 19th 2012, but some people couldn't wait. They began drenching themselves and unsuspecting passersby on April 9th. This year the big showdown started on April 12th on Sukhumvit Road, Soi 7 and Soi 9.
If you couldn't got enough of water during the last 10 days you could move to Bang Sare and Sattahip: At Bang Sare Songkran ended on April 20th, at Sattahip on April 21st. Amazing Thailand.
Strange behavior!
Pattaya Police was confiscating high-pressure guns used by farangs, but didn't touch the vendors of these illegal guns!

The so-called 'classical' Dengue Fever (DF) form usually affects older children and adults with fever, violent headache, and severe pains in the muscles. The incubation period is typically 4 -7 days (range, 3 -14 days). The viruses can cause dengue fever (DF) or dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). With DHF the fever is more severe and the drowsiness and lethagry is more extreme. Transmission occurs principally from the bite of an infected female mosquito. April 6th: We just learned from Pattaya City Hall that it launched a war against mosquitoes, but Pattaya's Public Health and Environment Department office already announced that the city has only 12 workers to do the job. The spokesperson said the process takes time. To completely rid an area of mosquitoes, it must be sprayed daily for a month. As anticipated, Pattaya's War against Mosquitoes was a short time action only to impress and calming down the medias. Stop the Press!
Pattaya cuts spending on public-health programs!
We just learned that Pattaya decided to cut its spending on public-health programs by 33%!
This year Pattaya will spend only 16 million Baht into projects for diabetes prevention, the elderly and sports.
Last year Pattaya spent 24 million Baht on such programs...
The offenders usually do not work alone. On the way to the room or at the room itself the ladies used their phones to informe a second or a third person about their site of crime. The accomplice(s) arrived shortly after the victims felt asleep.
The ladies seem to prefer men living in a condo or a hotel where they don't have to show of their identity cards.
We recommend: Don't take a unknown person to your room, invite her to a short-time hotel. If she has the intention to drug you, she will find an excuse to disappear.
PS: One of the ladies involved in the drugging of Farangs has a large Tattoo on the inside of her left leg. You can't ignore it! One of our informants was drugged by a Taxi driver during his ride from Bangkok to Pattaya. The driver stopped at a gasoline station and bought two sandwiches at the Mini Mart, one for himself, the second for his passenger. When the Farang awoke he found himself at the roadside, stripped from all his belongings. Remember:

Do not rent Jet Ski in Thailand!
Australia, Austria, India and the Commonwealth Office are warning their citizens not to rent Jet Skis in Thailand. Read here what happened to Chinese Tourists from Macao after they rented a jet ski right here in Pattaya.
An Indian Website published the strongest warnings yet for tourists: Police are 'hand-in-glove' with the mafia the site writes - and tells the true!
Everybody in the Government and at Pattaya's Police Stations knows it, but nobody stamps-out the scams of Pattaya's Jet Ski operators!
Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Khunpluem and his City Hall still doesn't do anything to stop the Jet Ski Scam - after all, some tourists believe the officials themself are part of the game!
On April 23rd Police Lieutenant General Panya, a Region 2 Police Commissioner, confirmed the arrest of 18-(!) and a 17-year(!!) old Jet Ski operators responsible for the alleged assault of the two Chinese tourists from Macao. It would be interesting to know where the 2 boys got the money from to run the business. The General promised tough action against any Jet Ski scammers from now on... Nevertheless, Pattaya News Flash still recommends not to rent any Jet Skis in Thailand. Phuket
Seismologists are warning:
Phuket will be shaken by a series of mild tremors for about a month following the 4.3-magnitude earthquake that hit the resort island on April 16th 2012.
A 4.3-magnitude earthquake was detected in Tambon Si Sunthon in Thalang district at 4.44pm on April 16th, prompting locals and tourists to flee buildings in panic.
Nine aftershocks were detected following the Phuket earthquake. The latest one, measured at 3.1, took place about noon on April 17th.
Phuket deputy governor Somkiat Sangkhaosutthirak declared Thalang district an earthquake disaster zone to facilitate compensation payments for people affected by the tremors.
Mr Somkiat said local officials would also check buildings in Phuket city.
Formula 1 in Thailand?
Never make a Joke in Pattaya - it can turn true!
In our Pattaya News Flash from October 2008 we made a joke about a possible Formula 1 start in Pattaya.
On March 7th 2012 Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism and Sports Chumpol Silpa-archa has announced that Thailand has its eyes set on being host of the Formula One racing in 2014.
The budget of the event was calculated at over 10 billion baht, the Minster said. But it is quite possible that the real cost will be much lower than estimated, the credulous man added.
As host to the F1 race, Singapore saw a 300% increase in tourist figure.

Stupid Officials
The Wind is responsible for Koh Samed's Dirty Beaches!
Rayong governor Thawatchai Thoetphaothai said: My understanding is that it is quite common during this time of year that the wind blows from the sea to the shore and carries all the garbage up to the beach.
Chief of Mae Ramphung Tambon Administration Office (TAO) Wanida Jeerakul added, we do not have the staff to collect garbage on the beach on a daily basis. We only do so for households. We normally organise beach clean-up activities when there is a special occasion, such as the Father's Day and the New Year.
Regarding the long line of trash on the beach, she said it caused by the wind.
Obviously Thailand's Officials do not know to run a Tourist Destination correctly.
Experts
Stupidity is native
Nutritionists around the world tell you that KFC, McDonald's and Co. are responsible for your overweight.
Myanmar (also known as Birma or Burma) doesn't know KFC and McDonald's yet, but has at least as many overweighted citizens as any other country in the region.
I bet, as soon as the first fastfood outlet will open in that country, the nutritionists will pin point their fingers on it.
Stupidity can't be replaced, it's native.

Definition of Thailand
Thailand seems to be the land of Teflon, where nothing ever sticks, no one is ever responsible and it is always some unidentified person's fault.
Published by Bangkok Post April 4th 2012.
A criminal gang based in Russia and known as Spachiba is using Phuket to launder dirty money by encroaching on national forests and investing in luxury housing estates, five-star hotels and casinos.
A casino called Tiger located in Soi Saen Sabai in the heart of the Patong area and another one known as Thung Thong are run by Russians.
The Russian nationals are running this money-laundering business with the help of Phuket's land and administrative officials and high-ranking police.
The two casinos make daily payments to local and immigration police...

Evolution: Human Race in about 500 Years!
Large ears can serve two purposes:
Predator species often develop large ears as these help them to detect prey. This becomes an evolutionary advantage is passed on to the next generations, because those who find it an advantage will be more successful hunters and will most likely have more offspring. The large ears of the parents become a genetic inheritance. FBI and Police in Pattaya are recruiting applicants according the size of their ears. The size of the brain isn't important anymore.
Other creatures use their large ears as a means of regulating their blood temperature - elephants are a prime example - as they can fan their ears back and forth and cool the blood vessels there. They have a greater percentage of their blood in their ears than animals with proportionately small ears. To survive Global Warming our descendants will need large ears.

Intel announces
Intel expects Ultrabooks - an Intel Trademark - prices will come down below the critical $1,000 mark during the next few months.
Because of the sluggish sales Intel launched earlier this month its largest advertising campaign in a decade to support Ultrabooks.
Asked what Intel expected to lead to declining Ultrabook prices, the company said mostly competition from many OEMs bringing to market different Ultrabooks with different mixes of features will bring the prices down.
Intel itself doesn't see a necessity to lower the prices of its overcalculated chips.
